Appreciate that vote of confidence... There are some armchair quarterbacks on this site that could put present management of JTA to shame. I do not think that, I know it !
I am kinda surprised that one of the Nifty Fifty did not get one of their henchmen appointed................seems like the perfect plum for an AMIO position or someone close to the inner circle being rewarded one more time? This could be real interesting............could JTA finally be recognizing their lack of competence or planning? Or is this just a ploy, as has been brought up, locating a figurehead or someone to throw to the public for incompetence? Time will tell! So much for fiscal responsibility.......makes me wonder just what this is going to cost us now?
Who was doing it before now or is this an skimpy explanation for failure to plan for transit?

do you even know what this position is responsible for? or maybe that JTA is not COJ and therefore does not have AMIO positions?
So you are saying I could get paid for doing nothing?
Note, no obvious reference to rail or streetcars. I am not sure what this means in plain English either: QuoteResponsible for overall management of the Agency’s senior development planning initiatives
Do they want new ideas or to just be a foot soldier for what they do now? Looks to me like "creative-vision types" need not apply. Wouldn't want anyone to rock the road building boat.

the position is to manage
existing transit operations....new projects come from the Strategic Planning and Engineering divisions.
This is outstanding news considering MARTA in Atlanta is cutting service and laying off 300 workers.

Outstanding?MARTA = Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority: Cutting 14% of workers.
JTA: NO RAPID transit workers to cut because we don't have "rapid" transit! And, what needs to be cut here, management, isn't likely. ???
Well just being positive no JTA budget cuts yet :) I would like to see some bus shelters though!

it is just a name...most of the MARTA system is buses, just like here
MARTA= Moving all rapidly through Atlanta :)
JTA will promote the deadwood from within and it will be status quo.
That I can agree on !
So did they ever hire this person they needed?
not yet
The person they need is Ock. but they probably would not hire him because he would make a working system out of JTA. God Forbid!
