Jacksonville will soon be home to the next-generation in planetarium technology thanks to The Bryan Family Trustees of The Henry & Lucy Gooding Endowment along with other individual members of the Bryan Family. With the $465,000 lead gift, the Museum of Science & History will purchase a state-of-the-art digital dome projector system and initiate plans to renovate the Alexander Brest Space Theater where the planetarium is housed.

This is good news.

The planetarium is my favorite attraction at MOSH. It is always a joy, though you've seen it before.

It helps remind us that we are truly "floating in space".

This is pretty exciting news.  The museum/planetarium rennovations combined with Friendship Fountain/Park improvements means new reasons to visit the South bank!

Yes ....they were great!!  When I was in High School we came to them every weekend and the place was packed.  a few years ago I came to one and there was hardly anyone there.  Would love to see them revived ... :)

I wish they would expand their building. Everything seems so cramped in there. Looking at the lot, it seems like plentyof room available. I would like to see more "history" added to the museum of science and history. An exhibit on Lavilla, or one on our hollywood years would be wonderful.

^ I think the 'history' part will transfer to the new Jacksonville museum at the Landing.  In the future maybe the two will be able to collaborate on a larger scale dual museum, but for now I think we should avoid duplicating functions in order to keep from cannibalizing each other.
