My wife and I almost bought a house on 22nd between Laura and Silver.  Great house, great price, HORRIBLE neighborhood.  It is going to take a whole lot more than a couple of developments to turn that area around.  We were propositioned by a prostitute at 1030 in the morning, there was a guy selling carpet out of the back of his truck and everyone was out dealing drugs.  Not exactly "kid friendly".  It's disappointing too because there are some gorgeous homes in that neighborhood.  I'd like to go back in time and kick the ass of the guy that thought it was a good idea to put the MLK expressway right through the middle of a residential neighborhood.  It's just like a lot of old homes in the springfield area, demolition by neglect.  Sad but true.  If anyone feels like getting in on some large scale development in the area let me know.  Take over a whole block and renovate for renters.  That could start some real change in the area.
