Can anyone tell me where & how to get two new recycle bins for my house? The ones I have are cracked and falling apart. Duct tape only lasts so long. I think I've had these since I bought my house in 1991, so it's not like I'm misusing them.
About 10 years ago, when I only needed one bin, I called Southland Waste Systems and they said they would drop off a new one, but they never did. I called them again a month later and they said the same thing, but never delivered. I'm trying to remember if Southland still picks up in my neighborhood, or if it's someone else.
I called the city when I purchased my house in November and a city employee informed me that the city is no longer distributing recycling bins. She advised me that I can buy a bin (available at Lowes/ Home Depot, etc.), use a plastic bin such as a laundry hamper, or I can put my recycling in a disposable paper bag.
This is directly from COJ's site
*Note: The city no longer provides blue plastic bins. If you do not have blue plastic bins, place recyclables in brown paper bags (no plastic bags, please).
I recently moved and needed one. I went to Lowes and got a blue plastic bin, that was made of recycled plastic and it only cost me $4.
Thank you both. I had a feeling the city was no longer providing them. I'll make a trip to Lowes.
Update: A few days after my last post, I bought a recycle bin at either Lowes or Home Depot, I don't remember which. I had to drill my own holes in the bottom so rain water could leak out (the old ones already had holes), but other than that, they are almost identical to the last ones I had.
