Hello to all my civic minded fellow MJers. I truly appreciate much of the hard work that many on this forum do for the City of Jacksonville, and with that in mind, I propose a contest. While there are so many areas in our city that need help, the Jaguars also could use some assistance. Even if you're not a sports fan, there’s no denying that the Jaguars helped put Jacksonville on the national map. For the non-sports fans, consider the Jaguars a means to an end. The Jaguars' presence attracts business, spending, and interest in the city. In a somewhat analogous parallel to trickle down economics, the Jaguars' presence can bring forth many of the things we want in this city, but may not have (restaurants, nightlife, more jobs, etc.). As such, their presence is vital to maintaining some sort of identity that this city possesses.
Anyhow, I'm proposing that we set up a raffle to our fellow forum members to take some more seats at Jacksonville municipal off the market. Perhaps we can refine the parameters, but I think if it's $10/person, we could, at a minimum, get at least two or three season tickets sold. Let me know what anyone thinks or suggests, and go Jags.

Like the idea but at $10 per ticket you would need 30 people to contribute for the cheapest season ticket available. That might be a tall order.
On a positive note I've read multiple posts from new season ticket holders that were helped along by the articles and posts on the forum.
When I'm mayor I'm going to propose we paint the hart bridge teal. Go Jags
I'm just throwing some ideas out there, anyone is free to refine the criteria. I figured $10 would be palatable for everyone, but anyone could put more in to increase their chances.

Oh lordy, thats what just what we need...
And yeah, even my broke self can rack up me $10. So if I do this, I will get a chance to see one Jags game this season??
Heck, I could do $20
I think a raffle for single games tickets may be a more feasible.
Single game tickets aren’t on sale yet, but we could propose a cut-off date and assess where we are. I think it would be nice if we could get enough money to raffle out two season tickets, but they may be a bit ambitious on my part.
Umn, why would you do a raffle, aren't raffles used to make money, we dont need to make money, we need to sell tickets.
Though we could use the money to buy more tickets to raffle...
Two season tickets is going to need a lot of raffling.
Perhaps raffle wasn't the word choice I was looking for, but you get the idea. Obviously, the Jags could use more help than two season tickets, but doing something is better than doing nothing.

Very True.
How much are season tickets anyways??
Season tickets range from $300 (nosebleeds) to $2400 (club seats), and eveywhere in between. If we can get 60 entries, then two season tickets are sold.
Intersting idea. That would give us 8 pair of tickets to "raffle" off to the 60 participants. One time winners only.
So a 16 out of 60 chance for a ticket to the game? Not terrible odds.
Well, I'm in (obviously). Would Metrojax be willing to set up a paypal account to make this happen? It's been discussed ad nauseam, but losing the Jaguars could be pretty crippling for the city. As such, I'd hope that we could get at least 60 entries to help fill the stadium.
Duvalbill, I think this is a great idea. In response to Mattius' concerns about profit, if we end up with $90 or $900, then we'll just buy however many tickets that can afford and give them out to a smaller or larger number of winners. I think organizations should do this all around the city.
If we're doing single game tickets, why not do $5 entry?

$5 entry is fine, but I think people should be allowed to enter as many times as they like. Also, if there's any residuals left, maybe we could purchase a visa gift card to use at the game for adult beverages, merchandise, etc. As I already indicated, I think it would be great if we could get enough money for season tickets, but as long as we're getting some tickets, I'm good.
