QuoteThe Principal for a Day Program is designed to give the private sector a sneak peek into the daily functions of a school and the role of school leadership. The goal of the program is for community and business stakeholders to translate their one day experience into a long-term relationship with the school thus supporting the overall academic achievement of students. The Community and Family Engagement office will host the district Principal for a Day Program April 22, 2010.
Every year DCPS hosts this PFAD program, and I've always wanted to try it. I figured that if my son was going to attend a public school I should have some clue what goes on nowadays. And the last time I was ever in a principal's office was in 1990.
Well, I was just selected to be the
Principal for a Day at Ortega Elementary.
Considering this is one of my 3 Magnet Choices for kindergarten next year, I thought it was a good choice for this program.
While it's just for one day, I'm hoping this will give me better insight to the daily operations and struggles our teachers and schools face. I'll share with you all what I learn next week.
Meanwhile, if you have an interest in it, you may still be able to sign up if you hurry.
