Quote2 Jacksonville cops off street because of sheriff's concerns about shooting
Sheriff John Rutherford said Thursday that two Jacksonville police officers involved in a shooting last month that left a robbery/carjacking suspect dead and a boy and his mother injured are being kept off the street because of his concerns about their actions.
“I believe there could be potentially, at this point anyway, some potential policy violations,†Rutherford said. “I don’t know yet.â€

Just how many shot up kids before we look at the "trigger happy policin" policies?

although I feel in this incident that the officers should have further training, I just don't see it as JSO wandering around being trigger happy
really...you don't think 42 shots (30 of them from 2 officers) is trigger happy?
30 from 2 officers shows me that they need more training on sitautions such as these. I'm all for action, but this went far past action.
^ more training? how much training do you need to know not to empty your clip in less than a minute on a suspect not aiming a weapon at you while seated in a car with a family of innocent victims. sounds like common sense should have taken over prior to erratically pulling the trigger 15 times blindly.
Maybe we need to take a look at the training methods from the getgo, not subject them to more of what made them trigger happy. It sounds like our 'training process' is plopping them down in front of Halo, Goldeneye, or Call of Duty for a few days and telling them that's how it's like in real life.
It is more of 'they-need-more-training-in-common-sense'.
My training was.......pull the trigger as a last resort! Maybe the auto was threatening them? Not very smart on their part!
So each of them dumped their mags?
They that bad of shots?
I wasnt there, so I dont know why they shot that many times, nor do the rest of us. Sounds like bad training, but 15 shots can be let off quicker then you would think so I dunno. *shrugs*

Until you people walk a foot in a JSO officer's shoes, look at both sides. Maybe more training is needed for some, but there were 3 other officers who restrained, but perhaps they had the training to know better.
