AWESOME!!!

I've been commenting about the need for this on my Metro blogs.  I can't believe that it is a potential.  I'm a happy person right now.  I like the fact that it is simple, probably very affordable, and should hopefully get built.

Fidelity has a beautiful, mostly unused dock, a hundred feet away. Why on earth would anyone build a new one. Ask Fidelity for permission to use it's dock for Saturdays and see where that goes first.

I attempted to park my boat at Fidelity one Saturday last year.  The security guard immediately came out and told us to leave...  Good luck with getting them to agree.  It might have something to do with insurance issues (just a guess).

In fact, all of the docks on the north bank are private with locked gates so that you can't access the riverwalk from the water...

MusicMan & Hurricane -

It's a liability issue. We have a very plaintiff friendly tort system. If they allowed the public onto their docks, it would be a recipe for lawsuits. It's simply not worth the hassle for them, because not only would they be sued - they'd probably lose too.

I know it sucks, but don't blame the dock owners - blame personal injury attorneys.

Right after the docks near the Landing where built we had a storm that created very strong south winds.  The resulting waves destroyed big chunks of the just finished floating docks.  These plans again appear to use south (+/-) facing floating docks that face far more open water.  What are they doing to insure we aren't rebuilding this dock every few years when the big waves (several feet high) come?

Wow, who woulda thunk that a dock would work there?

Stupid idiotic city let the old fuller warren be demolished. That would had made a great pier to tie into those planned docks.

The Mayor signed the legislation last Saturday.

With regard to Fidelity's dock, my understanding is that Fidelity was going to allow the Water Taxi there, but not private boaters (which makes sense, as the Water Taxi I'm sure carries liability insurance).  This dock is supposed to allow about 20 boaters to bring their watercrafts and dock for the day (although the renderings must not be to scale if 20 is a real number)

Unfunded projects can lounge around for a long time on paper.

But isn't this one funded already?

I was at the RAM yesterday. With or without the boat dock it is hard to doubt the sucess of the idea and
the execution of it. Easily 2000+ people there, and the food choices are amazing. It would be great if the food vendors stayed and they organized full blown free concerts there on the occaisional Saturday evening.
