Whatever happened to parents actually teaching their kids and not just dumping on the school system for babysitting?

Is it too much to ask a parent to get involved, or do we just blame the system?

I agree with you 100%; however, with KIPP's requirement that parents be involved with the child's day to day schooling, KIPP tries to solve the very problem you raise.
