An advertisement’s aim is to instantly attract the attention of viewers. Some use humour to draw viewers’ attention, but there are other kinds of advertisements that go to extremes to present something different. As a follow up to our previous article 60 Humorous Advertisements That Will Tickle Your Bones, today we look at the opposite extreme to using humour in advertisements. Presenting another side to design, some of the advertisements shared in this article today may be a little visually disturbing or conceptually controversial.

I'm not sure I would use the term "bad taste" to describe any of them. I found most of them to be impressive, regardless of what I thought about the politics behind any of them. Visually stimulating...absolutely, some gross (the one with the roaches, and that zombie dad). I didn't have a problem with any of them. Then there was the "kiss my glass" one. Damn funny to look at, but I don't know what they were going for there.
A lot of these aren't ads either. Graphic artists seeking attention will often do "shocking" ads for brands as project submissions.
