Heads up all....received the email below via my neighborhood watch (Ortega Farms) today. Sounds as if the same perps that attempted the Avondale incident are wanted for a completed burglary in Mandarin.
Another alert!

AVONDALE - ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
MANDARIN - BURGLARY
SAME SUSPECTS - BE ON THE LOOKOUT!!!
Thursday, March 4, 2010
Just before noon yesterday, there was an attempted burglary in Avondale.
Four African-American males, with dredlocks, backed an older model Cadillac up to the front door of an Ingleside Avenue residence (apparently thinking that nobody was home) and began to surround the house. As one of the suspects prepared to kick in the front door, the homeowner opened the door and surprised him with a gun, scaring them off.
The suspects fled in an older green Cadillac (approx. 15 years old) with dark-tinted windows and half-circle wheel covers, first 3 letters of tag is believed to be "AAA". If you see this car, you are asked to call the police immediately at 630-0500. Suspects fitting this description and driving a car of a similar description are believed to have burglarized a home in Mandarin Wednesday.
No further information is available at this time. Please be safe and alert! As always, if you see a crime in progress, call 911.
Thanks for the info. I live nearby so I'll be on the lookout.
The more eyes the better.
Its too bad the owner didnt feel a little more threatened, and invoke the castle doctrine.

Not everyone has what it takes to take a life.
That being said, you put yourself in harms way by having a gun without the willingness to use it.
I am glad it ended well for the homeowner.
They sound pretty bold , backed right up the house, four of them surrounded it, prepared to kick the door in... man oh man scary! I hope they get caught and put away for a while.
I'm curious about why this house was a target.
This happens a lot in Atlanta, particularly when there is a flat screen in the house.
Hmm, they obviously stake out the nicer areas of town. Where did the Mandarin event occur?
Come on out to St. Johns boyz! I've got a really sweet 1929 Thompson Arms 45 caliber Chicago Typewriter...
Not to be confused with Hitlers Buzz saw, Wombat Gun, Plumbers Abortion etc... The lightness and the heavy caliber causes control to be questionable when firing more then about 3 shots in a row, so it's ideal for these situations because you'd spray the whole damn neighborhood!
SWEET!

And I'm sure the neighborhood appreciates it.

...wait do you have a operational MG 42?
Crime happens anywhere there is opportunity for it. Why Mandarin and Avondale? Must be a connection there, somehow. You don't just throw darts at a dartboard and choose a house. Then again criminals are usually sharp as bowling balls.

Requires a special permit, Not a Maschinengewehr! Any questions?OCKLAWAHA
It requires a class 3 licence I belive.
Ah not really a fan of the Thompson, good round but prone to breakdown.
I'll take my H&K 416 over it :D
