QuoteJTA sets fare hike hearings
By The Times-Union
The public is invited to attend four public hearings about proposed fare increases for Jacksonville buses and the Skyway.
Regular bus fare would increase to $1 from 75 cents for a one-way trip, and the rate for children would increase to 65 cents from 53 cents. Senior citizens would no longer have free rides but instead receive a half-price discount beginning October 2009.
Regular Skyway fares would increase to 50 cents from 35 cents for a one-way trip, and seniors would pay a quarter, up from 10 cents. Some parking and monthly passes also would increase.
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority will hold four upcoming meetings: Monday at the Gateway Marketplace; Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Kent Campus of Florida Community College at Jacksonville; Monday, Aug. 13, at Regency Square mall and Wednesday, Aug. 15 Southeast Library.
All meetings start at 5 p.m. with an open house followed by a hearing at 6 p.m.

I think that's more than fare....most major cities cost at least $2.00 to ride.
