Title: Jacksonville needs aspiration for greatness
Post by: samiam on December 31, 2009, 05:50:39 PM
Jacksonville needs aspirations for greatness
If our politicians could just see what is going on around them we could be the next great city. With all the media and political hype about environmental concerns we as a city could be in the for front of positive change. We have an inner core and surrounding neighborhoods ripe for renovation. we have an old navy base that could be turned into a green manufacturing zone without clearcutting anything. we have CSX (from what is understand rail is the most economical way to ship goods) we have the port to ship out green goods worldwide. We need a bold leader that will strike while the iron is hot.

Green does not mean it saves you money.

Or that its really efficent.
Trust me >_> esspically as far as teh AC goes. Green means what used to cost you $300 to repair now costs you $1500

Fook green

Are you asking politicians to care about you and actually do some work that will make your life better?
Good luck with that.
Santa Clause will give us more before politicians.

We are, as a people, hungry for leadership -- not just the kind that is focused on only one aspect of growth, economic or environmental, crime reduction or transportation, but a leader who will give us HOPE, a leader who can inspire us to do the dirty work of repairing our city and our lives.

Competent caring leadership.............someone who actually gives a darn about the COJ as awhole really would be nice! We have had incompetence for so long, we have grown to expect it..........shame on us! Most Mayoral candidates, who have declared to this point, are basically still part of the GOB Network, which means business as usual for the rest of us taxpayers! Job may not pay much, but boy those bennies work out real well!

It's up to us to do away with the GOB network. We need to make sure we understand the upcoming candidates for Mayer platforms and get that info out. Pro green jobs, pro redevelopment of the core, pro green technologies and engineering, Now is the time to make a difference vote out all incumbents and start fresh. Send a message that we are not going to take it any more.

That will never happen.
GOB and GOP will rule forever.
When I point to wrongdoings I get accused of being hater and whatever while they are defending those wrongdoers.

GOB and GOP don't have to worry a damn thing with people like that.

Well we could really show the politicians that we are truly tired of the way they do business by electing nether democrats or republicans. If someone runs under an alternative party and they stand for the the improvement of Jacksonville vote them in. We might even get some national press out of it.
Jacksonville is mad as hell and we are not going to take it any more

samiam..........I agree! It is past time for the people to take control back of their own government! People who just look out for their buddies and the rest of the GOB Network had better find real jobs because slowly and surely people are starting to wake up to just what has been going on! I don't know about you, but I have really started looking closely at who is running and why. To this date, Hyde,Moran,Mullany have declared wishes to be the next Mayor and they will have to file according to law who has made contributions to their election campaign! When I get some information together and can post it here, I will do so! Information is golden and political drivel is bull excrement! Past time for a viable third party or a fourth............choices between an apple and an orange aren't really choices!

Ok, I'll bite. What ruined your home country Bos? Don't tell me Bush or Palin or American Idol. Was there not some croynism and home fried politics in your "sweet land" previously?

Think back about 20-25 years ago and more and tell me what the Soviets etc were doing.

If we want greatness, we must ACT great... The door is wide open for us to follow Shanghai, all we need to do is DO IT! Can you imagine 5.5 sq Km of urban reconstruction in _______________ Take your pick, rebuild LaVilla (boy would THIS jump start our mass transit), Brooklyn (it has great access now you know), Fairfield (The REAL name for the "sports district", has a ring to it doesn't it!) Southbank/JEA site (compact but wow what exposure)... THINK JACKSONVILLE! Imagine the possibilities! You think we would get some attention? Try:

Values

The actions of the Bureau of International Exhibitions are based upon three fundamental values:

TRUST: by adhering to 1928 Paris Convention, Countries have committed to create major opportunities for humanity to meet and have established a link of fraternity between cultures. The objective is to carry out a grand and common project, in a spirit of education and communication, which can help build trust and connect governments and civil society.

SOLIDARITY: multicultural exchange is the foundation of each Expo and shared action is their engine. Expos are the intersection of cultural diversity and innovation, where civilizations share their know-how with the goal to identify, together, the best prospects and the best solution to face the major challenges for humanity.

PROGRESS: Expos foster education through experience, development through innovation and experimentation through cooperation. They are powerful catalyst for growth and a bridge between different eras. The driving force of Expos is the identity of each culture and the respect of the environment for the development of humanity. Expos also contribute to the moral, material and technological progress of humanity.

All you can do is waste time on some "freedom" forums, bitch and complain and that's it.
Same old,same old.

Wow, are we optimistic or what? The trouble with forums, blogs, websites, and electronic media is that we might never see the difference we make. How many businesses are enjoying Jacksonville today because of something they first saw here? How many idea's has JTA or JAA or JPA or COJ used because they saw them here? We don't, and never will completely know, but there is no grounds for this sort of defeat.

Take 5 xanax and 1/5 of your favorite vodka and the "truth" will become known to you Bos.

Without the GOB network, you cannot get elected in Jax. Our town has not grown with enough organic (non-GOB) activity yet to not expect the GOB to influence the outcome. When the JCCI report comes out later this month, look at the stats and get a better handle on how citizens will vote.

mtraininjax............there are allways dissenters and I am one of them! I don't vote for most any elected officials twice. If they have a proven track record of watching out for the people who voted them into office......maybe! But if they are leeches gorging at the trough, and I get to vote on them, they are gone because I won't accept mediocrity! Time for a change and that means incumbents leaving!

Here we go with vodka and Russians again.
I got nothing to do with Russians...or Arabs....or Eskimos.
Try again.

Like I said and I predicted this 5 years ago..nothing will ever change.
Good ol' boys are elected by good ol' voters.
Voters don't want to change.
When outsider like me comes and JUST suggest something they are called unpatriotic,anti-American,socialist that does drugs.

You do not want to change and your leaders won't change either.

You are stuck in infinite loop of politics.

If we as a city want to prosper its not only up to the politicians (but it sure would help if we had progressive leadership). We the citizens need to put our money were our mouths are. We need to make our voices heard. It has been prooven time and again that politicians are no better than used car salesman. They vote for there agenda not the will of the people that voted them in. We need to hold them accountable for there actions.

OCKLAWAHA
I am umbilically connected to the temperate zone
It brought me life, it brought me love
I never have outgrown
Brought me one too many nights along that Biscayne shore
And one too many mornings in the Grove drugstore

And one way or the other we're all refugees
Livin' out this easy life below the banyan trees
Smoothing off the rougher edges of the culture clash
We've got a style we've got a look
We've got that old panache
