What a crazy headline...just imagine the comments the T-U site will get on this article.

TU, are these legitimate exercises or just a "feel-good" waste of time?  Can you really even vaguely plan out fifty years?  (Real request for qualified opinion, not sarcasm.)

I think they are very legitimate...primarily because you get community leaders talking to each other....also, it is important to develop a long-term vision (50,000 foot level) that helps to guide more detailed short-term planning.

That said, the Reality Check program itself is a bit too simplistic (probably needs to be since untrained folks are doing it in 2 hours)....I would like to see more thought put into it, which is what is now happening (post event).
