Title: Crime Update
Post by: DetroitInJAX on December 04, 2009, 12:38:09 PM
On the night of the 2nd at about 2:30 in the morning we were awaken on Osceola Street between Park and Herschel by my next door neighbor chasing a group of four hooligan kids down the street and his wife yelling and screaming at them while calling the police.  Apparently as I understood it, the kids were going up and down the street trying door handles on cars and throwing things at the front of houses.  My neighbor chased them several blocks and the police finally arrived and cruised the area afterwards looking for anything suspicious.  Unfortunately I didnt get a description of the kids to pass on to everyone here, but BE CAREFUL and remain vigilant.  If we all keep our eyes open we can catch these creeps and bring an end to at least SOME of the rampant petty theft in this neighborhood!

My scooter was stolen out of my driveway on College Street last weekend.  It was a black Buddy 125cc, scraped up on the right side and missing the right hand mirror, license plate 0921EB.  If any fellow Riversiders happen to spot it around the neighborhood, please give me a call at 993-7089.  $100 Orsay gift card to anyone who can help me recover it!

That sucks. I leave my Buddy in my Driveway too, and I worry about it getting stolen as well. Grrr. Now I will have to lock it up.

Damn criminals!

Watch out for influx of door to door 'solicitors', too;  well known that they are casing neighborhoods. One of our neighbors was robbed a couple of weeks ago, after we had solicitors for several days in a row.  Hope you get your scooter back.

'_ _ _ _ withdreads'- consider revision the first part of your user name.....what I see is distinctive person,not _ _ _ _.

Glad you have a Glock assuming/ trust you are law abiding, well versed on lawful use, operation.
Personally I find the new model and proven popular Ruger .380 LCP to be ideal in so many respects.Ideal for those 'on the go' walking, cycling, walking, jogging types.

It happened to my daughter at church. Seems like standard operations to me to hide that stuff or take it with you. But sometimes folks forget.

There was also a purse snatched at 8:30pm in the 2100 block of Myra St.  Happened to a woman just getting out of her car to go into her house.  Perp was chased, but lost when he cut through the Annie Lytle property a couple of blocks away.

This is the time of year when this sort of crime occurs more frequently.  Keep your eyes open and your heads up out there.

the other day i saw somebody parked with there ipod displayed prominently on their dashboard and backpack on passenger seat. Come on folks we have to start using a little bit of common sense. Now maybe because I live close to Roosevelt Blvd this makes sense to me? But thats only a half a mile from everywhere else.

There's a recall out on the LCP. You can check to see if yours is under recall or not here: http://www.ruger-firearms.com/LCPRecall/

Well, that really sucks that her purse got stolen. ;/

Good thing the macbook is off her hands though.  Means she can get a computer that doesn't suck. :3
