And it was fantastic.
My daughter Cordelia and I, like the rest in attendance, were guests of Craig Smith for a dress rehearsal and dinner.
The food was great; if I was annoyed at the traditional it's-really-pudding mousse, I was delighted by the roast and the mahi mahi (which I assume was a nod to the Newburg of old). Had I payed $20-30 for the buffet I would not have been disappointed.
The show, Christmas Carole, was good old glurge, but fun nonetheless (and Cordelia got to go on stage) -- though I'll say I really won't miss it not being in the 2010 season.
The new building looks fantastic, all the employees appear delighted to be there, and the only complaint I had -- the not-yet-updated sound system -- is apparently getting fixed this week (though I hope they'll be able to tweak everything ASAP or will just wait until the week after Christmas/before High School Musical to set everything up).
tl:dr GO. Buy season tickets. Support local theater.
perhaps i shall.....haven't been there in a decade
ah...now i have to buy Jags season tickets, jacksonville sharks season tickets, and alhambra season tickets!
