Title: I am Thankful this Thanksgiving...
Post by: sheclown on November 26, 2009, 12:04:00 AM
...for my mother-in-law's careful pie making instruction before she left this world.  Now I can make FABULOUS apple pies for Thanksgiving.

...that God made water and wind for us to sail on and play with.

...that Main Street finally is done and pretty.

...for my family, my friends, my neighbors, and all friends of Bill W.

...for disaster flicks on rainy nights with the greatest guy.

...for Metrojacksonville, when it's lofty and when it's low, when it's time to read and when it's time to speak.  And sometimes even the wisdom to know the difference. ;D

Agreed! That's a deadly cough, no doubt!

It isn't a deadly cough in the least.  It's a rational, logical cough.

I'm thankful that Congress is in recess.  I'd be more grateful, and the economic welfare of the country safer, if they would just stay in recess until the next election cycle.

Happy Thanksgiving, and long weekend Y'all!

Though I do have a couple of questions or observations for a couple of you. My first question to those who hold this view or worse would be. On what basis do you dismiss Christianity? My second would be. Have you been able to disprove it?

It takes far more “Faith” for me to believe everything came from nothing; that produced a “Big Bang”; which brought everything we know into existence, than it does for me to believe, “In The Beginning God…”  My own logic would indicate that evolutionary thinking, "survival of the fittest," translates to infamous figures such as Hitler, Tojo or Stalin doing mankind a favor!   We are living today with the results of this thinking.

All anyone had to do in the 1st Century was to produce the body of Jesus and all of Christianity would have died out before it ever got started. Disprove the resurrection and you rule out Christ’s claim to have been raised from death. Even the Apostle Paul saw that one coming and dealt with it in 1Corinthians 15.  Bottom line, physics would dictate for every action a reaction, thus making it impossible to create, without a Creator.

Reaper, your proposal in another thread that we swap off church experiences, sounds like something not only I, but several of us might want to try. Also thank you for keeping this civil as it's certainly a very personal subject of which many are incapable of discourse without anger. In any case, none of us really wants to get to the end of the track, all dressed up... with no place to go.
