QuoteJaguars make all right moves on road to recovery
The most surprising team this season has been the Jacksonville Jaguars.
When I visited them before the start of the season, I thought this was going to be a total rebuilding year. I liked their draft, but I thought they were going to be too dependent on young players, and with a schedule of Arizona and three division opponents in their first four games, I thought they might not win in their first four and may be in for a long year.
But they have certainly surprised me, winning two of those first for games and improving to 6-4 with Sunday's victory over Buffalo. In fact, through 10 games, Jack Del Rio is my Coach of the Year choice.

Their growth this year has been nothing short of amazing. I felt before the season that 8-8 (give or take a game) would be phenominal. Now, they probably will surpass that!
finally, a positive story!
A positive story involving the Jaguars? What? Did they actually beat Terry Parker? :O
Jack Del Rio coach of the year? WTF? Getting blown out by Seattle 41-0, beaten by Arizona at home, at home, when they were up 31-3 when they called off the dogs, thrashed by the winless Titans on the road. Del Rio cannot string together 2 good seasons, the sign of a coach who has the players' confidence, nor the fans. He had one good season of 12-4, and Weaver made him a 4 million a year coach. In reality, he is 2 games above .500 for his home games. He is very mediocre and very average.
Del Rio will fail us all before the year is out, wait and see. He has consistently done so.
Yeah now this sounds like the mtraininjax were used to. Back from vacation?

I'd say the 2007 season was much better than the 12-4 campaign. Question, honestly, did you think Tom Coughlin was a great coach when he was in Jax?
This is... and always was forcasted to be a rebuilding year. They have made progress this year and that is all you can ask for. Making the playoffs would be great but most did not expect it...
It's nice to see a positive story about the Jags, but I agree with mtrain. Jack Del Rio is far from coach of the year.
mtrain, the entire head coaching career until this season for Del Rio was during Shack Harris as a GM. He now has Gene Smith, which appears to be a great GM already, judging by the FA pickups & especially the 2009 draft class. Why not give him a chance?
Johnny & Keith, did we regress today? 6 Sacks from the first 2 picks against a 4-6 San Fran team? Our run D was about the only good thing today, but Alex Smith (SF QB) had a very nice clean uniform at the end of the game, as the Jags only have 10 sacks this year.
Del Rio gets an F for coaching again today, the west coast record is 0-2, having been outscored 61-3 in 2 games.
I'm high on the team, Del Rio is a dud, and if he goes under 500 again this year, show him the door. Bring in someone who the players will respond to, cause it aint Del Flunko.
This one hurt.
