Here is a video that shows the legendary Pikes Place Fish Market in Seattle in action.

Nice video ... skateboarder at the end is hilarious. ;D
I would not go to the Landing to buy fish to take home to prepare. If I had the option to buy and have it prepared tableside at one of the restaurants, sure, I might do that. I go to the Landing to eat, drink and be merry. I don't go there to shop.
its very common to have both in downtown markets like this one, which is awesome http://www.readingterminalmarket.org/
fresh food vendors and restaurants, pretty much whatever you want. I was hoping that the old library would be used in this way.
We've tossed around a lot of ideas and a seafood market has been one of them. I would say that 10 or so years ago, the downtown area was not ready to support such an idea. I do believe that now with so many hotels, restaurants and residents nearby, a fresh seafood market could work. It would take some exploration on our part to see what kind of financial commitment would go into building such a thing - and then we have to always go back to the root issue: not owning the land the building sits on.
