Might be able to see Air Force One fly over downtown today.

QuoteObama lands at Jacksonville Naval Air Station today
President Barack Obama is visiting Florida this week, making Jacksonville Naval Air Station his first stop today.
Air Force One is scheduled to land at the base at 2:45 p.m., with Obama addressing the troops at 3:15 p.m.

Most likely not over downtown. Since the wind direction today will be more NE, AF1 will approach from the west and be flying parallel to 103rd/Timuqana for the last bit of it's journey.
I wouldn't be surprised if they close US17 during approach and landing, it is the POTUS afterall.
Of course, with it being a 747, any place along the river with a clear view will provide great viewing of takeoff, right over Mandarin.
;DAlright Obama Jacksonville Loves you. :D
The people who post comments to stories on the T-U site scare me.
T-U comments made my head explode. God, how can people be so misguided/stupid?
Thanks reednavy. Maybe I should have said that you might be able to see it from a tall building downtown.
This will be the largest aircraft to land at the base since the world's largest plane (Russian jet) was there in 2008.

This is why I dropped the Times Union six years ago, and I have never looked back!

They just remind me too much of the Holocaust Museum shooter.
What time will AF1 be taking off from NAS Jax?

I'm not sure on the timing, but guessing probably about 2-2 1/2 hours after he has arrived, maybe a little later.
If anyone happens to be in the Mandarin area, you'll get a good shot of AF1 as it flies overhead as it takes off eastward and banks to the right towards the SE.
I'll be watching!
I will not I voted for Obama but I have a life. ;)

I disagree. Most people are busy, or uninterested in politics or just plain jaded.
Inviting someone to contribute can serve society better that calling them a moron. The TU MB is certainly filled with vile rhetoric. Some civility and fairmindedness could serve the discussion; even change hearts and minds. Namecalling is already the order of the day there. Let's not import it.

You're kidding....I've read posts where sensible people have posted and made attempts to make it civil, and they're attacked. Name-calling, I call them as I see them, as the vast majority of what's posted on that forum is hateful trash.

Have you been to the site before? How about the First Coast News comments section?
AF1 is currently over the North Carolina coastal waters and should be on time or even 15min early.

no, that's why I don't post there...the blatant hatred is enough for me to not be interested.
Ugh, FCN's reporting horrible. They keep talking about the President's M&M's, I mean seriously?!
The only station that did a good job was, shockingly, WJXT Channel 4.
Did anyone see the Group of about 20-30 protesters off of Hwy 17 South? It is there right but they look like Fools (Stop Socialism Obama) another sign said (No Cap & Trade) and the one I loved Taxed Enough Already Go fox news :D :D and the last one while I was at Target getting food (Illegal Presidency Stand Down) :D Thank God we all live in a Free Country And God Bless Obama are President
It was impossible to see the plane takeoff if you weren't on the river due to low clouds.
He came, He talked, He Left, No Big Deal just another day in the life of a Great President
Watched it from the roof of my building in Southpoint. Saw it for about 20 seconds before it was lost in the clouds.

Do you really like CNN? fox is a joke but CNN isn't a lot better.
It was fantastic! I don't think I've been this excited since... well, .... ever!
The Times union had a very nice write-up about the 2 boys who got to see Air Force one, and discussed some of the sailors seeing the President. Good thorough local job! Refreshing to see.
