Title: Amtrak Florida

I have been researching how we can improve our Amtrak system in Florida since the service is so limited. I decided to come up a new system called Amtrak Florida and it will be statewide rail system.

I have design maps, maps, stations and many more. I will have the schedule available soon when I can.

I already send this to Amtrak Planning, Florida Gov. and every city mayor and many more to share my idea and this should be done. I believe this will bring alot of ridership and reduce road traffic.

Please share your ideas, compliments and suggestions how I can improve Amtrak Florida.

I believe this is the correct link. The only two problems I have with this vision are:

The plan assumes that the State of Florida, will replace many miles, of abandoned track, or that the state will be willing to build entirely new routes just to connect Amtrak Trains. There are no tracks from Venice to Ft. Myers (though an early grade may still exist). No tracks or grade into Panama City from the east or west. Ditto Daytona Beach to Orlando, nothing there, not even a right-of-way.

I'll be the first to admit that we need to rebuild some trackage in Florida. I am very proactive in seeing Wildwood (Coleman) to Auburndale; Gainesville to Dunnellon to Brooksville to Tampa. The state should also study reconstruction of the old Atlantic Coast Line from Mattox - Lake Butler - Gainesville - Ocala - Leesburg - and hence both to Tavares - Orlando, as well as from Leesburg to the reconstructed Auburndale - Wildwood cutoff.

But is it realistic to think a state that won't even support a single sec. 403B, state funded train or corridor, is going to rebuild anything conventional. Tallahassee wants HSR at any cost, and if they don't get their wish, they'll be perfectly happy to abandon any future attempts at alternatives to our overcrowded expressways.
