Hi all, we have a lot of polls for other food and I thought we need one for wings! I put up what google considered popular in jax, but if you have another recommendation please write it below!
Chicken Koop and Gator's Dockside on Baymeadows
BW3 for me, but WW Cafe comes in a close second. I like the variety of flavors they have.
Hurricane's wings are very good. Like the assortment of sauces/marinades to choose from.
Box Seats on Blanding, best wings in Jax, hands down!
Players Grill in Mirimar (off Hendricks) has really good wings, but not a big variety of flavors.
Their terriyaki is insanely good. They have 50ish cent wing night on Mondays and if they'll sometimes mix together some flavors that aren't on the menu, like my favorite, grilled cajun ranch wings.
Fastboys is my 2nd choice for wings, def more flavors.
BW3's has the best boneless wings, plus the cheddar wedges are guiltfully delicious!
I like the variety of Hurricane Wings...but I will always love Tom & Betty's cajun ranch best.
REALLY?! No hooters? :o

I like the hooters at hooters ;) but their wings have always had a "bleachy" taste to me.
I think hooters has the worst wings I've ever had. Granted, it's been about 8 years (but that's how bad they were). :)
I'm a fan of dicks, but still need to try christy's as per the reviews online.
Hooters has food? Who goes there for the food?
I go there for there wednesday wing special inbetween classes
Box Seats' wings are huge and delicious and cheap during lunch!
Sticky Fingers wings are the best I've had in Jax so far.
Lemon pepper at Dick's is my favorite. MMMmmmmm!!!!!!!
Jolly Mon! Whole wings perfectly cooked!!!
For a more mainstream entry, Wing House (currently closed) or Gators Dockside.
I had some Hurricane wings a few weeks ago for the first time and they were very good. My favorite is Dick's but I am a sucker for Publix hot wings also.

9 times out of 10 it's Publix for me. I used to really enjoy wings from "The Moon" in Jax Beach.
Players Teriyaki.
Large
Crispy not Soggy
Sauce... not too little, not too much
Smoked garlic wings from Whole Foods are pretty doggone awesome. They are in the little BBQ bar past produce but before the meat counter.
Jackie's Seafood used to have some of the best wings, imho, but it has been awhile since I have paid them a visit.
Northstar has a pretty decent wing if ya like them crispy. Plus, they come with Marks HHour on Thursday & Fridays....LOL
Gator's dockside something for everyone.
What no Sharx wings love?
;)
Oh, but I keeeeeed.
Honorable mention should definitely go to Harpoon Louie’s though, particularly their “Karl’s Wayâ€. Come for the cats stay for the wings.
I know this may mark me as a lil ghetto... but i dont care. there's this place on Myrtle between 8th and Kings rd...and its referred to as "the window". There's no sign, and theyre only open a few hours a day...a good way to find it, is by the long line. You can seriously get 4 whole wings, curly fries and a drink for 4bucks. ;D
When I lived in Lakeland there was this little spot where a guy served food out of "a window". For something like $5, he'd give you a thing of oxtails, rice and a chunk of cornbread that would take you half the day to finish off. You just gave me a new spot to try out. Ghetto or not, I love these types of hole in the wall spots.

So do I. I have had some of the best food ever in just such a venue.
Harpoon Louie's "Karl's way" is my favorite for wings.

omar, dont forget the garlic crabs and shrimp.
that place only needs to be open a few hours a day. so good.
So true... think i might go there for lunch tomorrow. ;D
Next time I'm in Jacksonville I was going to drive that stretch of Myrtle to look for a Prairie-style gas station that's featured in Jacksonville's Architectural Heritage (Anyone know if it's still there? It was once a Gulf station and later a Fina). I'll have to add the window place to the itinerary.

Its at the corner of Mrytle and Kings rd. i think some of the pumps are still there, there are usually some guys sitting there selling oils.
Sounds sketchy Omar
the smoked wings at sticky fingers are pretty damn good!
Sticky Fingers wins everytime.
I've heard Sticky Fingers was good from my girlfriend's parents, but I haven't tried it yet. (haven't thought about it.)
I've had Dick's one time for a birthday party in Waycross, Georgia. We had the Smokey Mountain Gold sauce, not sure what intensity, and it was delicious. I've wanted it again since then.
BW3's has some really delicious ones, and I've heard that their Parmesan is even better than WW's which I can't vouch for myself because I haven't had WW's Parmesan, I just know that it's won an award and that BW3's is hella tasty.
WW's has a great variety of sauces. Their Jalapeno Cheddar is my favorite, it's soooo tasty.
My favorite place, so far, for just regular hot wings is Pizza and Wings Express on 103rd, though.
I've had Medium and Hot and that's what me and my girlfriend get everytime. 7.50 for a dozen and we get 2 dozen, one of each.
Plenty of leftovers for other nights that we get the cravings for them. =]
PS: Gators is really good, even though they are a bit overpriced imo. Favorite is definitely Caribbean Jerk chicken tenders.
WW General Tso's
Take Away Gourmet serves wings. Haven't tried them yet, but I'm probably going to pick up a pound for the gator game tomorrow. If their other food is any indication, they should be amazing.
Looks like everyone likes gators.
My personal favorite is Christy's. Just a hole-in-the-wall place over by JU. The best wings I've ever had at a very low price. If you've never been there, you've gotta try it!
KICKBACKS!!!!
Someone had to say it, so here I go.
If I had to choose, I totally prefer Dicks to Hooters.
;)
for standard wings, its: Time Out on Beach Blvd (medium/hot and crispy is the way to go)
for non-standard wings, its: Beach Buds Chicken (peruvian red gold and Trinidad Habanero Hot)
Though it has been twenty years since I have been to Sharon, PA, there was a place called Tully's that had wings so good, I haven't like anyone elses' very much since. Ock would have liked that place as it was attached to an old club once called the Freight House which was in part constructed of old rail cars. The entire complex, I believe was part of the old station. It also had an old gas station (Quaker State and Ale) that had old cars hanging from the ceiling and up on the lifts and was an original you pick it out and we cook it steak house. When I was going there, it was more bar than restaurant. I also think towards the end of the eighties, the Freight House was a fancy restaurant.
Not that this matters to anyone here....unless of course someone has been? And then can tell me where to get wings that are as good?
no love for the city pub 1901, or did I miss it?

TWINS! But I'd choose Kickbacks.
any straight guy would have to choose Hooters over Dicks any day :) sorry, but I had to go there.
1901 wings over at CHP are good... Don't know about the best in Jax(I personally don't think there is a clear cut winner), but no doubt they are in the discussion.
I'm going to have to try Christy's.
Gator's Dockside is definately in the mix as well.
Kickbacks' grilled wings are the bomb diggity snip snap shazam!
Wing It NY over in Mandrin is my fav.

I dunno the 159 and 125 out at JIA would be my choice of wings!
SOCO POWER!

I couldnt have said it better myself.
Jacksonville is finally gonna get a Wing Stop. Coming soon, 5324 BLANDING BLVD JACKSONVILLE, FL 32210 (at 103rd, right next to Marcos Pizza)
http://www.wingstop.com/locations/coming-soon/
My secret spot for wings (non breaded) is Lillians Bar and Grill on Roosevelt in a little strip mall. They are LARGE sized wings, and for naked wings, they are super crispy and well seasoned.
I just came from Gainesville, and Wingstop's (soon to be on the Westside) lemon pepper wings, yum!
Drove by Wings n' Things today, worth trying? As a reference, I do love wings, but the only place I'd go out of my way for is Pok Pok (Thai) in Portland/NYC.
Try V pizza wings... but eat em next door at sidecar... 8)

Agreed! V pizza wings are hard to beat
V pizza's wings are very good, but my vote goes to Mojo's

Yup. Kickbacks may home to some of the best wings in jax.
The grilled wings, fyi, are fried then grilled.
Mojo's. The wings are smoked then fried. Most people don't give them a shot because there are so many other great things on the menu.
