Title: JTA Considering Price Increases for Buses and Skyway
Post by: Julian on June 29, 2007, 09:24:50 AM
QuoteJACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is considering a fare increase for buses and the Skyway Express. Bus fares would be raised from 75 cents to $1 and the Skyway would go from 35 cents to 50 cents.

JTA says Jacksonville would still have some of the lowest fares in the nation. They say the increase is to combat rising gas prices.

JTA will hold several public hearings to discuss the potential fare increases. The first is on July 26th

On the picture in the article it says JTA is spending about 1.5 million to update the look of some of the skyway stations..anyone heard about this?

Imo, JTA should suspend the fares on the Skyway, making it free, and make up the minor loss in revenue (seriously how much money can you really make charging 35 cents?) by allowing companies to advertise on the skyway cars.
