Well? MJD performed well. D line was OK... Receivers... did we even have receivers? Secondary was full of holes but Manning will cut a good secondary to pieces anyway.
To the Jags credit they DID hold the colts to 14 points. Not bad... but the offense squandered the few deep penetrations with FGs.
The loss is bad but to go on the road against the Colts and only lose by two could be considered a victory of sorts...
Winning is ALL that matters!
Good points BT. Jags could have easly gotten blown away. Dont blame the 2nd secondary Peyton had way to much time. I saw only the 1, 2, some of the 3rd. Did the Jags get another sack?
Poor Jags; don't think they'll get too far this year...maybe next year.

Why, oh why didn't they put in Tra Thomas when it was SO obvious that Eugune Monroe wasn't ready/up to the task on the O-Line?
Poor Jags,,they have only played one game. Tenn, Houston also lost so is it maybe next yr for them also.
Monroe had a rough game... he was also up against one of the best. When rebuilding you gotta let the newbies play and learn. I bet he does better next time.
QuoteI bet he does better next time.
I cannot imagine him doing worse at this level. Let's hope.
What a bad performance, but at least they were still in it til the end. O-line needs to step up.

Based off one game?
Good God, no wonder they have poor attendance, people around here judge it like a college game. In college, one loss can take you out of the big game, but look at the Cardinals last year, they had 5.
Um this is funny didnt someone say they were going 0 and 16.
They looked better than I thought they would. My son and I were talking about it last night and I predicted somewhere in the 31-17 score range. It is young team that will take time to develop. But, I think they will.
Garrard is a question mark to me. Good guy from all accounts, but average..to below average by NFL quarterback standards. That final series of events pissed me off. I blame that on coaching and play calling. 2:00 minutes to go (you need to gain about 30-35 yards to get into field goal range) and you run four plays for a total of 2 yards. That sucks. But then again, had they even turned one of the early Indy turnovers into touchdowns it might have been a different story. >:(

You said it DW. That was my big takeaway as well. I was fuming for a while because of that series of events. Damn! What could have been....
SUPER BOWL CHAMPS and I mean THIS YEAR! If you don't believe me, go to your nearest Publix Liquor Store and buy a bottle of "Rebel Yell". By the end of the evening, you'll either agree or be dead, one or the other!

Chances are I will be at the liquor store either way. :D

Agree 1,000%.
For as badly as ticket sales are going this year, I saw more Jags fans out today around town than I may have ever seen. My brother and I tried six different places to watch the game before we were finally able to find someplace with available seats.
Keep the faith! A rewarding season could still be in store.

People can't give up on this team based on one game. I really hope that fans will continue to support the team.

I think fans need to discern a little better between players vs. play calling. On the last drive there were 4 plays. The offense was in hurry up and I'm not completely sure it wasn't Garrard calling a majority of them. Even if they were called by the coaches wouldn't the burden still fall on the players? Did JDR drop the pass to MJD? Did Dirk Koetter let Freeney blow right by him and give up the QB pressure?

228 yars of O will not cut it in the NFL.
You cannot trade field goals for TDs.
No leadership on the last drive.
The team will never go far with Garrard at QB. He does not have the decision making ability that a franchise QB should have. There are at least a dozen or more QBs that are clearly better than Garrard.
I would have liked to see at least one QB draw or roll out run play. He doesnt have to do it often... just once a game or so to threaten it. Garard can run... do it once or twice to keep the D honest.
I know the yardage stats didn't show it but.... I thought Garrard played pretty decent. He was only sacked once through a relentless pass rush and had so many dropped passes. Also, he was a beast on the QB sneaks picking up a first down both times. I believe there are better QB's out there for sure and the Jags will have to address something maybe even in the upcoming draft. He'll never be a Brady or Manning but maybe a Rothelesberger. A guy that can keep plays alive, manage the game efficiently and lead the come back drives. He's done it a few times.... just last year in Indy he drove the team into the winning field goal position with a minute left in the game. He also did it in Pittsburgh in the playoff's with the post season on the line.
Rothelesberger, Manning, Kurt Warner, Tom Brady, see a pattern here? Consistent winners, consistent leaders, not just one good season and then a wanderer. Garrard is a nice guy, but he has not shown me he can lead the Jags to the Super Bowl, or be playoff contenders year in and year out. Kerry Collins as a backup, outplayed Garrard last year. The pattern is disturbing for our future.
Perhaps Weaver is setting us all up for the Tebow pick next year.
I'm chosing to be optimistic. There was a lot of good that came out of that game. A young/new team was competitive against a more senior division foe in game one of the season on the road. Titans and Texans both lost their games as well. We should be in for a great season of grid iron matches.
Next week, the 0-1 Cardinals in Jax BABY! Could make for a great first win for the season.
The O line looked like the biggest problem. The 2 point try was smash it up the middle did not play to our best talents. The sweep call on the TD did show some creativity.

Umm, Collins was the Titans' starter last year dude.
Collins also didnt have defensive players in his right after the snap as well,,anyway I will be at the next three home games I hope we do better.
We had an opportunity to win at the end of the game. Scobee hits that FG right before halftime and we are talking about how good the Jags looked. I think they have some good football ahead of them this year and I think we can pull out a win against the Cardinals this Sunday. With 3/4 teams in AFC South losing in Weak 1, we are still in good shape. We need to have Greg Jones take a few more hand offs. We need to give David an extra second or two to get rid of the ball and let routes open up a bit. I think we are in good shape. Go Jags!!!!!!!!!
