I asked this question in the Gay Fish Market thread :D after Lakelander said: "There's also a place named Fusion and another seafood shop coming to the corner of 8th & Pearl".
What is the Fusion place going to be?
Just trying to learn a little more about my new hood. Speaking of which, I probably need a MetroJax name change. Southbanker does not seem appropriate for a Springfielder.
I too am curious to know more info. I asked about the seafood place but didn't get any response. So I guess I'm bumping this thread to get a response.
Information must be scarce on these projects!
I believe Fusion is supposed to be some type of coffeehouse/sandwich place where people can also buy art work. Its been a few months since the concept was discussed in a conversation I was a part of, but I think it is something along those lines.

Well...if you are south of 8th street, it could still work for you.
I stand corrected. Fusion appears to be an art/wine/jazz bar.

Will it really be a jazz bar? I have lamented for quite some time that the citizens of Jacksonville have shown an affinity for jazz, and the golden age of La Villa shows the roots of real jazz run deep here, yet if it were a random Saturday and I wanted to go sit, have a gin and tonic, and groove on some jazz in front of my face, I have no idea where that can reliably happen.
City Hall Pub may be an option for jazz.
"Bar manager Dennis Simon is familiar with both the bar and music industries having worked as a bar manager at Freebird Live in Jacksonville Beach. Simon also owns First Coast Flairtenders which offers both basic and performance, or flair, bartending training. He is also responsible for booking music acts for the inside and outside stages at City Hall Pub. Its first regularly scheduled act is a three-piece jazz band that will play during lunch every Friday."

Thanks for the info...sounds like it will be a cool place.
Too bad it is not on Main St.

You know, Southbanker/Springfielder, I said the same thing about Three Layers. In retrospect, they probably wouldnt have done half as well on Main St. I love the environment they bring to the corner of 6th and Walnut. Maybe Fusion can do the same of 8th and Pearl.
You very well may be right. I too love the impact 3L has had on 6th and Walnut. Really, I am just being selfish since I live near Main St.
Looks like Fusion may be open now. I drove by tonight and there were a few peeps inside.
A quick web search yielded: www.fusionartwinejazz.com
Grand Opening is this Friday!
Soft opening was last Saturday and it was packed. We had a very nice time.
Stopped in for an impromptu visit last night and, even though they were not officially open, the owner, Miro, was gracious enough to allow us a glass of wine and a look around.
This place is awesome. The decor is tasteful and the ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. I see great things in the future for Fusion.
Grand Opening is tonight. They are located near the corner of 8th and Pearl in the storefronts on Pearl.
Here is a link to their page on Facebook.
