Hello everyone. I thought I would take this post (my 10 thousandth post since we started this damn thing) to introduce myself.
I live in Springfield, and I am a libra male, in my unreconstructed 40s.
Im a writer, and a traveller, and have been studying the dynamics of what makes cities work for about 24 years now. I travelled for 8 years in pursuit of field knowledge, and discovered a great big wonderful civilization out there.
I love books, animals, cooking, languages, history, and debate.
My favorite cities to live: Paris France, Seattle Washington.
I was raised by a virtual tribe of mutually hostile southern women, from my Li'l Mama to my Big Mama, my mother, my paternal grandmother Mary Sue and a baker's dozen of aunts.
Im one of the original metjax/ metrojacksonville crew and this is one of my favorite projects Ive ever undertaken in my life.
My profile picture was taken of me at Oscar Wilde's grave in Pere LaChaise. Paris.
Nice to meet everyone.
Stephen Dare
Stephen, pleasure to know you. Happy 10,000th. Keep up the good work. One day you'll be famous (besides in the MJ world ;) )
10,000 post and not a good one yet. Just kidding this site (project) you and your crew started has been a joy to so many of us. Keep giving us all that content you provide must be a real chore and we appreciate it.
I mean really - 10,000 should qualify for a new membership milestone. Übermember..........
Stephen's 2 cents x 10,000 is a $200.00 value for free. Can't beat that! Better yet, per Mastercard, not taken on MJ, its "priceless" :)
Happy 10,000th post Stephen, but you sound like you are auditioning for a partner or something on a dating site in your initial post (but that's o.k. and cool at the same time). My my, you have been busy, busier than any of us in this forum. I'd be content with celebrating my 1,000th, so, YOU GO STEPHEN!

Favorite cities to live, Paris France and Seattle Washington; may I ask, what are you doing in Jacksonville?

congrats on the 10k -- you've made me laugh many times, thanks.
Happy 10,000 Stephen! :D I can only dream... :D
Congrats! There should be another title, maybe superhero member.
So long as the majority of posts are well reasoned, polite and informative, 10,000 posts is a remarkable milestone.
From what I have read so far, it does seem to be the case.
Keep posting.
Additionally, am I to understand that you are among the founders of the fantastic site?
Stephen, what is your total time logged in? That will be the true testament to your devotion to MetroJax. :)
I'm at 20 days, 8 hours and 32 minutes.... and counting.
Congrats on the milestone. Thanks for many entertaining and enlightening posts.
I enjoy the titles. I think 10,000 deserves something like Deputy Mayor. I myself am working towards Senior Member right now.
Bam! Senior Member
85 days?! Do you have a virtual apartment?
QuoteI think both Lake and I have learned at least twice as much as weve contributed over the past four years. He s right behind me at the present date with 6875 posts on the forums
I've learned
much more than I've contributed. This site is an amazing wealth of compiled information that nearly every member has contributed too. The historical discussions are by far the most interesting.
Looks like a real battle between tufsu and Lunican for 8th most frequent poster. Riverside gator hasn't been as prominent as he used to be.... where is he?
It's almost like he just fell off the face of the Earth.
I think he resigned from the site.
I think I will crack that top 10 someday.
I haven't seen Riverside on here quite as much either...
I think he had a nervous breakdown when Obama was elected.

Probably. His arguments with stephendare were always amusing. I love that Obama still comes up as a spelling error. I think it's Mozilla's way of fighting the system. Keep strong Mozilla!

I agree! :)

Those were epic...

DRIVEN1.........Lest we forget.
Stephen is right. Sign up today as the National Health Care debate rages in the National politics section.
Hello Mr. Dare! Happy 10,000 post. I enjoyed your little intro although knowing you for the past 10 years...well I already know most of that information (and more from many discussions at ye ole' loft...RIP). Happy as always to see your views even if I don't always agree. :)

Welcome Shana!
Over 12.5 posts per day, boy Stephen, you HAVE been busy!

Good morning,
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for attending the Jax Diversity Network event last night. Emily Lisska was nothing short of amazing and it was truly my pleasure meeting members from Metro Jax. Have a wonderful day.
Welcome Reggi... though I was not able to attend I am hoping to get a recap from Stephen.
You know you could put a note on the front page that national politics are for registered members only please sign up and enjoy. Then anyone who wanted to participate in those conversations would know where to look. I support keeping National Politics articles and threads off the front page.
Congratulations Stephen(Dare)...lol. we all knew you could do it! althought i have to agree that the political arguments are quite exhausting, but make for good reading. :D
How many of your 1100 posts this month have been about people joining so they can see the political threads?? I'm not complaining, the more members the merrier, but you're making it hard for the rest of us to catch up!
Maybe they don't sign up because they see SD everywhere! ;D
I kid.
Actually I really like the front page. Always an interesting and relevant photo along with a thought provoking read. Let them work their way into the forum. Perhaps Sr Member posts regarding the more substancial topics visible as well.
The downtown topics caught my attention, but it is the Rail discussions that have retained it.
This forum isn't what it used to be, partially because of the economy. It used to be "New construction downtown...Huge Skyscraper coming soon....Infill in riverside" None of that for quite some time.
Sometimes a slowdown in growth is a good thing.
Stephen, don't you DARE leave Jacksonville for Paris, Seattle, or anywhere else! We will pursue you and bring you back.
its funny this topic is on Stephens 10000th post and now he is almost at 20K, lol

Ock, you might be the most amazing person in the world, but we only speak English here.

HA! HA! HA! Really? That's Latin, darlin'! It appears Mr. Stephendare is an educated man. Now I really hate him!
Oh God! It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.
Mattius, these are fairly famous phrases and I'll bet if you google them you'll find the meanings and maybe even who first said them. Just remember as you come of age, "In vino veritas," really!OCKLAWAHAPoppy Powered!
Congrats Stephen! 10k 20k , 100k ( you will have major carpal tunnel by then ;) )
good job!!
Well if they don't have balls enough to man up (I apologize ahead of time to all of the ladies!!) and register.....their lose stephen! Speaking just for me, I was good to go at the start to just look and think about things, but when time came.........right or wrong I will stand up for what I post! Just funny that way, which is part of why I use my name and not a avatar or screen name or post label..........different strokes for different folks.............what ever makes one happy! But with the loss of the other Forum, this is my home at home, this is my City too and may taxes make it work......kinda......takes discussion to arrive at a conclusion and this site is worth it to me!
