So I got caught 7pmh over the speed limit and pulled over(fine ok).
Like a good boy I handed over my Driver's licence and my concealed weapon permint (even tho I didnt have my weapon on me) Im sure it shows up in there system so I think nothing of presenting it to an officer.
WELL
I had my black mp3 player in my lap of my black pants(not sure it matters) and upon seeing my permint and the mp3 player he pulled his weapon and pointed it at me. A nice little way to start the day >_> upon further examination to find out OOOPS MY BAD its a zune mp3 player that looks nothing like a firearm in my lap.
Needless to say I got an applogie and a "warning"
Am I the only one who has run ins time and again with these jumpy cops trying so hard to be ROBOcop? or am I just that special...
Well, you sound like this has happened before? Can you elaborate on other occurrences?
I have a concealed permit as well and I also hand it over when I've been stopped. Never a problem.
Maybe its just the site of a furry red wolf driving a car and carrying a CWP? I dunno.
Curious also as to why you seem to be pulled over often enough that it's become an issue. As for the pulling of his weapon, who knows what he thought he saw...and he did apologize and didn't ticket you....so what's the real issue here?
When I was in and just out of highschool they where CONVINCED I was a drug dealer becuase I owned 2 show cars...never mind the fact I had 3 jobs. St.Johns is really bad and wouldnt be the first time they reach for there firearms with me even tho I make it a point to place my hands where they can see them. (No I wasnt a drug dealer btw)

Yes they are and Im glad Im not the only one who sees that they are out of control, and a problem with them pulling a gun on me.
They really could never fathom how a little white clean cut kid could afford 2 cars out of highschool, and have had those dogs called on me more times then Id like to remember, actually to a point at one time I knew the officer on a first name bases and had dog treats in my car at all times to give to "Trigger" one of the drug dogs that seemed to always remember me and wag in my presence.

Cops like that are referred to having the "John Wayne syndrome" If they don't get their crap together, acting like that can get them hurt or killed. This is often a problem with small town cops
They never know what they are going to walk up on. They get a little jumpy sometimes when it just don't feel right to them. You also don't know what happened to him on the last stop. Or what was told to him on the last briefing. Some officers are nervous about civilians with guns no matter the reason.
You are not required to hand over the CCW permit when not carring. I would not do it. Also if you are carrying don't use the word "gun" it causes some reactions like you observed.
Maybe you need to mount the MP3 player to the dash board and play through the system.

I wonder what else is at play here. I owned nice sports cars when I was young too and I've had long hair for many years (a clear sign of a drug user to a cop), but I've never had a gun pulled on me and only been pulled for speeding when I was really speeding (20+). Aside from being a red wolf you must look menacing to them. ;D

Back in the day, when I was a long haired noble fared, leaping gnome, and God only knows what I had boosted my life with one cool California day. Sometime in my sleep(?) I dreamed of cops doing pretty much what you experienced. When I awakened, I was seeing cops everywhere! The roommates looked like cops, the lady next door looked like a cop, hell even the kids in the park looked like cops... I was so paranoid that I want flying out the door and started walking towards Yosemite to clear my brain out. Right on Que, these two cops in a FRESNO patrol car came screeching to a halt. They bailed out and smacked me into a frickin brick wall. Generally battered, perhaps I looked like Carlos Escobar? Thank God I didn't have my Colombian papers with me back then. After what seemed like hours of being searched and jerked around, one of the cops starts laughing and says something like, "Well what do ya know Louie, this ones clean..." They both got in their car and drove away, without so much as giving me a bandaid.
Tell you what, that really did the trick... I went back to the apartment and announced to my friends "Hell I wasn't near as paranoid as I thought I was!"
