So I was thinking today about clever business names locally, and some that came to mind were actually directly tied to Jacksonville and/or the area's history (subtly). Short of throwing out everything that I can think of, here are a couple of examples: Mossfire Grill. Cowford Traders. Visitors aside, how many people in this city would really know or appreciate the meaning(s) behind those names? What others am I missing? Rule: you cannot use First Coast, Bold City, or River City prefixes! ;)
Gator, Jackson,Duval
Or those! :D
Another example: Seven Bridges
Clara White Mission
Is the improv group Mad Cowford still around?
Freebird Live (I know she's the man's husband, but come one, thats J-Ville history fo sho)?? I've been racking my brain, but this is Tough!
Mad Cowford? That's hilarious!!
Did there used to be a restaurant in Springfield named after Henrietta Dozier?
The old pushcart market on the ground floor of the Landing was named for Dawson & Buckles, who I think were the proprietors of the first store in Jacksonville.
Hubbard House.
Peyton Place? ;)
Black Creek Outfitters
The Blue Angel

Jacksonville Traction Co.
I know it goes against my own rule, but it'd be hard not to include Bold City Brewery or River City Brewing Co.
Jax Liquors
Jax Bargain Plywood
St. Johns Seafood
Duval Asphalt
First Coast News?

The restaurant in the old Sears store downtown was called the Ribault Room.

Nice catch Lunican, and here I sit thinking of "The Jean Ribault" or the former "Buccaneer," Ferry.OCKLAWAHA
Not sure if they're a bona fide business or a product of the stadium, but it seems to me that there's a vendor in the Bud Zone and a couple of other locations that sell barbecue with an Andrew Jackson logo & name - it was pretty good stuff as I recall - can anyone clarify?
Yes, there's an Andrew Jackson's BBQ at the stadium.
