The first floor looks like it is around 20 feet tall. What is the city planning on doing with that space?

My guess is that they have probably put it on hold, along with everything else, until after the special Legislative session dealing with property tax cuts.

Word from the 4th floor is that they'll convert it all into office space, just like the crown jewel across the street.  It has been mentioned that they need all the space they can get, but with the budget cuts looming, it would seem like a massive round of layoffs is right around the corner, which should free up some of that ground level space.

Anyone know the expected completion time for this project?

If the city could get the kind of rent for ground level retail space that Hionides is asking for some of his properties that would probably cover the maintenance costs for the whole building.  ;D
