I am glad they are opening up but...could they have come up with a better name?
City Kidz Icecream just does not sound right when they offer crab cake sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, etc...
None the less...we will be there for the opening.
How incredibly odd! I'll be curious to see reviews as I'll be out of town during its grand opening...
There was a pretty decent turnout for today's grand opening. For those who like Maryland crabcake, try the crabcake sandwich. Its pretty good. Here are a few images taken around lunch time.

For this week, bring paper money -- credit card processing won't be avail for a couple of days. I had the crab cake sandwich and some ice cream yesterday. All the food was good and the service was friendly and excellent. I'll give kudos to the owner who also was aware enough to change the TV from Law & Order to Bug's Life when I rolled in with my juniors...
Looks like a cool place, the paper did a nice write-up on them today. For those of us who still get a paper and read it. But, they had better be careful with all that cash, the neighborhood thugs could come knocking without more police presence.
So their website says that a cafe opened in early 2007 in Jax...there's another one that opened already?
Wow, Maryland Crab Cakes, Kosher Baked Goods and Cuban Coffee. They're really ambitious - and diverse!

I think those were the mobile cafes, or essentially large ice cream trucks. Cause they apparently had one at the Super Bowl in Tampa.

Stopped by there on Friday and had the Crab Cake sandwich. Very good! Only thinkg I would change in putting it on a different kind of roll. It was on a regular hamburger bun. The wife had the Turkey Tanker on pretzel roll -- it was also very good.

Neighborhood thugs? i forgot Springfield is a war zone...you guys better watch out!! Hide your women and children..the thugs may come knocking! wow...its comments like this, whether the intent is to be funny or not...it sends the message that springfield is unsafe and dangerous, and people wonder why more businesses don't look to springfield for new development...if our own residents don't feel safe. ::)
FYI - their credit/debit line is finally up & running. had a come their today and it was pretty busy around 1pm.
mtraininjax is only familiar with the Avondale thugs.
I took a co-worker to this place the other day for lunch. It was pretty decent. What excited me the most is that is was new, clean, colorful, and in Springfield. The more places that come to Springfield like this the closer will be to one of the preeminent places to live in town. Overall I give it 3 out of 5 stars. They food was amazing so I took a star off for that. Their menu was limited (lost 1/2 a star) although that might be corrected over time and they were a little disorganized (lost 1/2 a star) which can also be corrected over time.
^You took a star off for amazing food?
it has to be super amazing to get all 5
Oops. I mistyped. I meant that I took a star off because the food wasn't amazing, it was just good. It needs to be really good to warrant that 5th star.
