New steakhouse coming to Jacksonville
Jacksonville Business Journal
An upscale steakhouse with only four other locations in the nation is coming to the Southside of Jacksonville.
The 9,300-square-foot III Forks Steakhouse is expected to open in Tapestry Park later this year.
Open for dinner, III Forks specializes in prime cuts of meats. The menu, which includes filet mignon, young rack of lamb, veal chops, Chilean sea bass and lobster tail, along with soups, salads and appetizers. The menu items range in price from the high $20s to more than $50 for the filet mignon and crabcake St. Francis.
The restaurant includes a 300-label wine room, according to the company's Web site.
III Forks is one of 87 full-service and 29 franchised restaurants throughout the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates owned by Consolidated Restaurant Operations Inc. in Dallas. One of the other brands is Cantina Laredo, which has a restaurant in the St. Johns Town Center.
The other III Forks locations are in Dallas and Austin, Texas; and Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens.
Never heard of this place, but good for TP!
The key will be to see how many units are rented or purchased in TP. Without peeps, it will be a short venture.
You do realize most of the people that eat at the Town Center are not from the TP area. You see quite a few Clay and St. Johns plates nearby as well.
My guess is that this place didn't have residents in mind as a top priority, rather corporate dollars driven by business travel in the immediate area. $40-$50 steak dinners aren't part of the comfort food daily vice regardless of where you live. Hasn't the "boutique hotel" opened in there as well (Indigo?)? Baymeadows & Tinseltown don't really have too many "upscale" places in which to choose, however, they'll still have to compete with the likes of Ruth's Chris, Morton's, and more obviously, The Capital Grille. I can't help but liken it to (the) University of Phoenix - sure it's a chain; it's pricing is way out of line; & probably wouldn't be your first choice - but if "Daddy's" paying.........

That is rich! ;D Speaking of Rich, wonder how Shula's is doing, last time I was in at lunch it looked like a ghost town. Maybe folks from Palm Coast can travel in and eat there as well.
Of course most business people don't feel like having a hearty steak to make them sleepy come 2pm.
I have been to Dallas many times for business and III Forks is a popular businessperson's choice fo client entertaining. Given the location near a number of corporate entities, this new outlet may have a chance. Particuarly since the nearest high-end steak house to it is Capital Grille.
Soemthing that strikes me is that Jacksonville is finally starting to attract these higher-end businesses which says something about the advances that have been made in the area. While i would prefer to see these types of businesses going into the Springfield area, thereby providing legitimacy to the area, I am never-the-less encouraged to see them coming into the city.

When I go to the gym, I drive by Shula's and it usually looks pretty dead.
