MAYOR ANNOUNCES EXCITING EVENT LINE UP FOR
MAKE A SCENE DOWNTOWN! IN MAY
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. April 22, 2009 â€" Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton will host a news conference tomorrow to highlight the countless events hosted by the City of Jacksonville and downtown partners during the month of May as part of the Make a Scene Downtown! initiative.

WHAT: Especially important during challenging economic times, many of the events are free or low cost and will help drive an increased potential customer base to downtown merchants. Including events like the annual Jacksonville Jazz Festival, the resurgence of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s Starry Nights, the World of Nations Celebration and countless concerts, shows and activities hosted by numerous organizations, the month of May will feature hundreds of exciting opportunities to experience downtown.
In the year since the Make a Scene Downtown! initiative began it has helped to breathe life back into “everyone’s neighborhood†by making it a social and cultural event destination through partnerships that are unique and unprecedented in recent years.
