Title: Best (or any) rotisserie chicken in jax?
Post by: coredumped on April 05, 2009, 08:50:00 PM
Hi all, please don't kill me for asking for a northern dish :o I love fried chicken, I really do, but I also love good rotisserie chicken. Publix does a good job, but how about a place to sit down w/all the fixins?
Any suggestions?

The Row does a great roast chicken, stuffed with spinach, and served with potatoes and asparagus or broccoli. Very much a northeastern dish.

Hmm...other than that, all I can think of around here for a rotisserie chicken with all the fixin's (and you aren't going to want to hear this) is Boston Market.

Thanks Chris, I'll have to check it out! (The row, not Boston Market - that doesn't count! ;) )

I didn't think we had Boston Markets anymore!? Mandarin shut down last year, is there another left?

I'll second The Row - GOOOOOOOD food.

Maybe not quite true American, Latin actually but your chicken Jones can be satisfied by MEYER’S LATIN FLAIR. meyerslatinflair.com 9041 Southside Blvd., Ste. 181. 240-4806. $$. The perfectly juicy yet nice crispy skin with that touch of citrus and garlic.+Rice and Beans, plantains, $6.00. Also had 2 beef empanadas 2 die for for $4.00. Low key , cheerful joint yet food obviously chef prepared. Really good!

Meyers? Hummm? Until now I thought the closest REAL rotisserie Chicken was in Medellin, Colombia, in a chain called "Koko Rico," there's also a great place, the name slips my mind, across the Via El Poblado, from the San Diego Mall in Medellin. Hey, maybe one of them moved here! I'm on the way!

Beware of this Northeastern Food Y'all!

It makes your belly swell up, raises your BP 100 Points, reacts like "SPEED" in your bloodstream, makes you talk like you have a mouth full of rocks, and gives you an irresistible urge to shove other people out of your way!

Oh really? Well that was the one I used to go to, so that sucks...

I liked Boston Market. Their food was not bad, and a lot healthier than normal fast food places. Wonder why they closed?

Closest one now is Port Orange, just south of Daytona. Or Orlando has a dozen of them still. Hey, anybody feel like making a road trip?

I don't know why they shut down... when I lived off Crown Point it was a great option nearby.
Now it's another McD's... just what we needed...

Is the one in Ponte Vedra in the Target complex no longer open? Next to the Sierra Grill?

The Ponte Vedra location is now a McDonalds.  Micky D's owns Boston Market and I guess they figured they can make more money in this market with McDonalds outlets.

Up in the DC area, there's a chain called Chicken Out with great rotisserie chicken.  It's a bit like Boston Market, but fancier.  I often wish we had a place like that here.  My wife and I usually getting our rotisserie chicken from the Publix deli.

When you do find a spot... make sure it's in a good neighborhood!

Wow!  Popeye's must be cooking some good stuff.

QuoteAuthorities said four men drove by several times in a burgundy Pontiac sedan yelling, "give us the chicken," at the woman and her boyfriend.

The couple ignored the men and continued walking back to their house, thinking the group was gone. However, the men in the car then started driving slowly toward the couple and turned off their headlights.

Police said one of the passengers got out of the car with a shotgun and yelled, "You know what time it is. Give it up." They said the man ordered the victim to put down the chicken, saying if she didn't she would be shot.

That line made me chuckle a bit... but then when I read they pointed a gun at a pregnant woman and stole her daughter's birthday money I was furious.

El Pollo Loco was in Orlando for a while. But wasn't their chicken fried?  Still I liked they gave you tortillas and salsa with your chicken if you wanted to roll some up.

Some of the best roasted chicken you will ever put in your mouth can be had from the roadside stands in Puerto Rico.  They joking call it "powdered chicken" there from the roadside dust and claim that the dust adds to the flavor.  I think it is from the spices and from the weird, naked-neck, black chickens that roam freely, unlike our factory chickens that don't have much flavor.

I had Huli Huli as a child and I will never forget how delicious it is and how I have never tasted anything that comes close to duplicating it!
