Here is a link to all of the FDOT and local projects that are to be funded with stimulus $

Hummm... Its too bad this opportunity didn't end up helping move a couple of visionary projects forward.
Except that visionary projects are, almost by definition, very seldom "shovel ready" - a very definite pre-requisite for this stimulus money.
I guess, but I'd consider returning Amtrak to the FEC a "shovel ready" project that's visionary. I'd also consider the first phase of the JTC visionary (even funding only portions of it). If that all fails, the least we could have done is got a few additional bus shelters out of the deal, fixed up a few parks or moved forward on some bike lane/streetscape related projects currently on ice. It will be interesting to see what type of projects our peer cities ended up applying their portion of the stimulus to. In Tampa/St. Pete's case, it appears they took the majority of their money to fund single big ticket items, while we spread ours out. I wonder which path will have a greater impact on our communities?
the big problem for Tampa is that the FDOT and local $ is still not enough to build the full mile-long I-4/Crosstown connector!
Is that connector supposed to be completely elevated? What is the total cost on it?
Looks like our district is getting the short end of the stick. Duval is getting nothing more than a few roadway upgrades and an overpass. St. Johns is getting a bit more done but its a larger mass of small projects.
Is preliminary design considered "shovel ready"?
QuotePolk Road Projects Recommended for Stimulus Help
The bulk of the money â€" $27.6 million â€" will be used to fund the construction of the East-West Road in the new USF Polytechnic campus. “It’s a pretty good deal for Polk County,’’ County Manager Mike Herr said. Herr said the road is in preliminary design.
County officials had listed the road as their top priority because it would improve access to the new campus located near the intersection of Interstate 4 and the Polk Parkway. In addition to the East-West Road, the stimulus package includes:
$1.2 million for the extension of the Fort Fraser Trail to Circle B Bar Reserve.
$420,000 to purchase six paratransit buses.
$159,222 to extend the Lake Wales Trail to Scenic Highway.
$96,000 for a new transit bus.
$50,590 for radios and software for the Polk transit system.

design is funded...the $28 million pays for construction...ROW is donated by the land owner.

Please dumb that for us. I got nauseated reading half of it.
I
think they both say that JTA will hold a public hearing if anyone asks for one on these two topics, by May 5th for the Stimulus projects, and May 6th for the other. The first one seems to be what they want to spend their Stimulus Money (known more formally as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) for, the second for something called 5307, which I think is money they get routinely. The rest seems to be bureaucratic language to make the Feds happy. If the project list were in a list, instead of run-on text it would be easier to read
