Filling the anticipated void to be left in the coffee world downtown with the untimely closing of the 11 East Starbucks, Ron at Chamblins Uptown Bookstore and Coffeeshop is extending their open hours on Wednesday and Saturday Nights until 9 pm.
There are plans to feature some entertainment and lectures and the like, but the new hours go into effect this week. Please drop by and support the establishment during the night hours! It will be a shame if downtown starts rolling up the sidewalks at 6pm again.
I lived downtown when this was the case and it pretty much sucked.
Chamblin's Bookmine has a pretty awesome selection of books, videos and music for sale (and the prices that everyone loves to have!) as well as a respectable selection of coffee and deli selections.
Oh, I love the idea of lectures in the book shop. Book shops offer a great venue for quirky and intellectually provocative events. Plus, they have that little patio which is very nice when the weather is good. Personally, I don't live downtown, but something happening at Chamblin's downtown location would definitely bring me out there.
why doesnt their website say anything about the downtown location? or am i just incompetent...

I love that they seem to know everything about books and where they all are. My friend got her dream job at the Roosevelt & Wabash location. I'm kind of jealous.
