Title: In need of restaurant rec's for weekly review
Post by: mrslyon on March 05, 2009, 11:59:13 AM
Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm working on a once weekly restaurant review for my blog and would really like to highlight restaurants in Downtown, Riverside, and San Marco for the first few weeks.  However, any other area's within Jax are helpful.  So far I've only been to The Magnificent Cafe downtown (which was fantastic by the way), so obviously I'm in major need of some help.

Thanks!
Ashley

Of course there are tons of great places in Riverside Avondale! Here's a quick off-the-top-of-my-head list of worthy spots: Biscotti's, The Brick, Casbah, Pastiche, Orsay, Cool Moose Cafe, European Street, 13 Gypsies, Mossfire Grill . . . . I'm sure others will weigh in.

I don't know if you're going for a certain kind of restaurant, but if you're ever in the Mandarin area, check out the family-owned Don Juan's on San Jose.

Actually just tried Waffa and Mike's for lunch today.  My only complaint was that the hummus was served too cold and firm, after it set a bit it was wonderful.  Great food and a welcomed addition to Springfield.

I would recommend Yelp.com for ideas (I am Michael E.).  You can search by ZIP code and even find new places that haven't been reviewed.
