Title: 2009 Jacksonville Suns
Post by: BridgeTroll on February 25, 2009, 03:22:53 PM
Anybody here go to the games regularly?  We are now an affiliate of the Florida Marlins.  The Suns are also celebrating 25 years of ownership by the Bragan family...

The Suns should have excellent talent again. The Marlins tradionally have had a great farm system much like the Dodgers did the last few years.

I can't say I go regularly, as it cuts into my studio schedule, but I do attend when I can.  Thirsty Thursdays are a dreamy memory, but I love the Friday night games.  Win or lose, there's fireworks to be had!

Good times at the ol' ballpark!

There should be a MetroJacksonville night at the ballpark; whether it be formal or informal. Perhaps a night when all the forum members get together on a Thirsty Thursday or a Friday or Saturday night.

Excellent idea!  Maybe we can take the Skyway downtown after the game  :D

When I'm in town I always try to make a couple of games.  Gave up on MLB after the 94 strike but still enjoy the minor league games.   Have fond memories of watching the jacksonville Expos back in the mid to late 80's some of the best team ever to play in jax.  Remeber watching Randy Johnson scaring the hell out of the batters.

I'm really looking forward to going to the games this year.  Hopefully by April, I will be livining in either the SM Place or Peninsula, I will hope the water taxi over and hit the games.  I'm a big Marlins' fan.  I lived in Miami from 2000-2003 and attended game 5 of the WS against the Yankees.

I wanna see how many cheesy cliches that I can say concernin' the Suns.

Yeah, get em' guys!! The boys of summer are finally here!!

Baseball never been hotter!!!

The Suns are better then ever!!!

Time to head to the BGOJ and pick up a bobblehead doll, and enjoy some action on the diamond!!!

Sorry about the pointless post.

Seriously, though I enjoy going to the Suns games; I haven't been there in a while.

One of the great things about living in the Cathedral district is the short walk to the Baseball Grounds.  If MJ organizes a Suns game meetup give us some advance notice so I can take the night off work.

I was dissapointed that the suns didn't resurrect the huge sun that was out in the outfield, and displayed the sl and ml score in the 70's, pure 70's kitsch.  The stadium is great and look forward to seeing a few games this year

Easier to cheer for the Marlines down I-95 than to cheer on the Dodgers clear down I-10.

Opening night tonight! I'm really not into the games too much but it is a beautiful evening to be out at the park. Not a huge fan of 'Thirsty Thursdays", the beer lines are impossibly long. Should be fun though.

-  Someone told me today that this was not an "official" Thirsty Thursday, although most of the usual suspects probably will not realize that until they hunt for wristbands.

I was there tonight. Good game, nice crowd, great weather. No Thirstry Thursday promotion tonight. There was some upset folk. Also seen some pretty femininas looking like they were going to hit Bay Street after the game. Overall, a good time and a fun night.

Suns win!  Did not go to the game but they should be fun to watch this year.  No worries about a pitchers duel with them but they are supposed to have alot of lively bats... should be high scoring games. :)

They def hit some bombs last night. Their bats were lively to say the least.

Went to the game last night. had a great time, no $1 beer though. I thought there would have been more people there for opening night, but I guess Disney on Ice kept the famalies with little ones out of the ballpark.

I missed the game last night... didn't make it past O'Brother's.
Weird the game was on Thursday but no Thirsty Thursday promotion.

Love the Suns games. I still wish we were AAA. The first game of the year has been on Thursday for the past few years and that is the only one of the Thursday games that doesnt have  have the Thirsty Thurday Promo.

Fond memories of going to the games in the mid and late 70's, usually about 100 people in the stands.  Almost everyone walked away with something. Terrible concessions, bad service and usually worse baseball.   The Bragans really deserve a lot of credit for coming in here, perservering  and  making a silk purse out of a sows ear.  Glad to see Mr. Bragan live long enough to get the stadium he deserved.  Though I still miss the big sun in center field

Yep the Suns games are fun, I am still a big fan of the team, Always wish the local media gave em more press during the season and even more if they made the playoffs. Playoff games are underhyped by the media. Field wise BGOJ is nice field, better than Tropicana Field, Turner Field & Minute Maid, those parks just have more seats. The park would be better if Homeplate and Centerfield were reversed, could you imagine that outfield view??? Man how did they miss that??
