Look for a photo tour later this week.

QuoteBlanding to have bus-only lane starting Monday

People who worry about Jacksonville becoming more like Miami or Atlanta might want to avoid Blanding Boulevard today.

The first bus-only traffic lane in Jacksonville will be unveiled this morning  on Blanding between Morse Avenue and 103rd Street.

Because a bus lane is new to the area, The Times-Union asked the Jacksonville Transportation Authority to explain it.

How will the bus lane work?

The far right lane on Blanding Boulevard between Morse Avenue and 103rd Street will be for buses only in both directions.  Cars will be in the other four  lanes. The bus lane will only be for JTA buses and emergency vehicles like ambulances or fire trucks. School buses, Greyhound buses and other large vehicles will continue to use the regular lanes.
