QuoteSpringfield's Victory Statement over crime!
On February 28th, 2009, the Springfield Community Residents will gather at 11:00 A.M. at the corner of 2nd and Walnut Street to celebrate how far we have come in the fight against crime, and that there will be zero tolerance for crime in the future.
Joining us there at the location will be City Councilman Johnny Gaffney, Mayor John Peyton and Sheriff John Rutherford. each of whom has played a significant role in the revitalization of this Historic District. There will be other City Representatives and the Media at the event as well.
Please be sure that you, your family and your friends both in and out of Springfield are a part of this event!
There will be a designated route to walk through the Springfield streets, ending at 210 West 7th Street where our wonderful Neighborhood Group, the Wine Society will be holding its' annual chili cook off.
They had a great event last year with lots of entries; this year will prove to be even better as contestants prepare the best chili's anyone has ever tasted!
This is going to be a "Springfield celebration Day" as we show our stuff to other jacksonville neighborhoods, who might like to duplicate this model.
Are non Springfielders welcome too? It sounds like a lot of fun and chili cookoff = big time
Yes, the more the merrier.
