Granted, we only had lunch there not dinner, but I was REALLY impressed with this place.
Everything was simple, yet very fresh and well executed. The service was excellent, the decor is nice, and the staff are friendly. The pricing was very reasonable for lunch, though I have heard others say that dinner is overpriced. I had a grilled chicken panini, and we split a caprese salad for an app, and had a canoli for dessert. The panini was great, the salad fresh, and the canoli was the best I've had anywhere down here, and better than most I've had even in the real italian neighborhoods in Boston and NY.
I definitely recommend this place. In JAX we have a virtual flood of cheap-o italian places (Pizza Palace, Olive Garden, Buca di Beppo, etc.), and very few truly good ones. The only other place I can think of that is comparable to this one is the one downtown, I can't remember the name, but it's also excellent. Anyway, P.P. is fantastic and I definitely recommend it!
You MUST be talking about Casa Dora downtown. The place is excellent and a total hole-in-the-wall.

Yeah, that's the place! Great food.
Prima Piatti is great good too. These are the two best local italian restaurants I've tried.
Where is Prima Piatti?
On Park Street, in the Whiteway building. Right across from where European Street is, and the bike shop, etc.
ahhh ... near Cool Moose and the comic book store?
Yup. It opened up in one of those antique stores that went under. It's next to another antique store and Sumo Sushi.
