Hopefully the improvements being made to McDuff help the area.  Assuming they ever finish them.  That road is a mess...

There are no buildings from the railroad shops still standing.  The entire complex was torn down a while ago.

Is DJ's record shop still in buisness there? That might be worth a look.

The picture with the free food and water is a service provided by my church.  They are there most mornings handing out things to nearby residents.  The church is River City Church, we meet in the City Rescue Mission.  Look it up.

The light blue line is the original Jacksonville Traction Company car lines in the area. (city and Riverside incomplete in this sketch)

Note that Lackawanna once had entry gates along Lackawanna Avenue - Todays Edison.

Also a "Lackawanna Rapid Transit Line" operated on a three in, three out, non-stop schedule and streetcar fares were accepted. It has not been discovered if this was a Jacksonville Traction Company "BRT LINE" or if this was operated by streetcar. The company did run non-stop cars from Black Point/Yukon to Downtown for the Army Camp, but they also ran a fleet of early city buses.

Wow "Whites Place" is still open!  Was always a really rough place when I used to go there about 15 years ago.  Shame you didn't get a picture of "jakes" or the "green door" truly two of the most infamous places on the westside
