This band is going to make it big because of their end track on Twilight.
Its a waltz, its weirdly named, and its sweet and beautiful.
The Lyrics are poignant and gorgeous.
I ended up getting all their albums as a result of the song.
"Flightless Bird, American Mouth."
I was a quick wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
All of your streetlight eyes
Wide on my plastic toys
Then when the cops closed the fair
I cut my long baby hair
and stole a dog eared map
Called for you every where.
Have I found you?
Flightless bird?
Jealous?
Weeping?
Or Lost you?
American Mouth.
Big bill looming.
They've been around for many years, but they're one of the few popular indie-hipster bands that I could never get into.
My younger siblings adore them; but the vocal stylings of Iron and Wine put me to sleep.
Obviously their songcraft and writing is strong; I just prefer it when it's covered by the Shins or the Postal Service. (Don't even get me started on the I&W version of "Such Great Heights"...zzzzzzzzzzz.)

I am with you on that one. And I think that technically "Iron & Wine" is one person.
Well, his sister has played with him a lot...but yeah, it's basically one guy.
I like Iron and Wine...I'm not fanatical, but I've always liked the music. However, I was under the impression that "they" were big already...maybe not so, I guess.
Kings of Convenience, anyone?
Yeah, I think Iron & Wine has actually gotten pretty big in the last two years or so. Friday Night Lights, the massively underappreciated NBC drama, has featured a ton of his music on the show, as have several other television shows and movies.
I can totally see how some would find the stuff dull or one-dimensional, but I seriously love Iron & Wine. It's great winter music. I'm not crazy about the newest album, but the song you quoted Stephen is easily my favorite off the album.
I'm not sure if you got the EP's as well, but if not, The Woman King EP, and also the In the Reigns EP he did with Calexico are both incredible. Probably my favorite material.
