Title: Springfield Neighborhood Clean up
Post by: jbm32206 on December 17, 2008, 05:41:41 AM
Calling for volunteers for the January 17th Springfield Clean Up of the Neighborhood.

Block Captains are asking any residents of Springfield who wish to participate in a neighborhood clean up, to meet on January 17th at the Wachovia parking lot (6th and Hubbard) where we'll decide what group goes where and will disperse from that point.

Thanks!

I clean up a couple blocks every weekend, on 11th Street b/t Pearl & Boulevard, and on Perry b/t 12th & 10th.

Are these area's going to be addressed?

You should talk to your block captain, as this is what's discussed at our meetings

I am always truning in the NE quadrant along with ionia.... but we alwasy seem to concentrate on the southside of 8th both East and West. It sounds like this time Perry (Southside) will get some attention at least....HEY Springfielders WE in the NE quad actually ARE part of Historic Springfield!

From the SPAR Council forum, it seems like the areas to be addressed have been selected.  Can those areas be posted?  Perhaps some can even be added if enough show up to do the work and enough think they need addressed.

Just a reminder...even though it will be a cold start, we still plan to meet at the bank parking lot at 8, break into groups and go from there. The good folks of Shantytown will also be hosting the lunch afterwards. We need for anyone interested, to come out and help.

The clean-up has been moved to Saturday Jan. 24th...same time, same place. Just read it on the Springfield message boards. I will still be out cleaning my alley.....a little cold isn't going to hurt.

The Springfield Clean Up will take place Saturday morning at 8 a.m.  We will meet at 6th and Main behind Wachovia.  A lunch at Shantytown will follow the clean up.

The clean up was well attended and we did one hell of a job cleaning the neighborhood up...it looks great! It was hard work, but well worth the effort. It was also fun to hang out at the cook out with neighbors afterwards

Yes...it was a lot of fun.

HINT FOR NEXT TIME:  never let a 6 year old be in charge of the trash bag with the other trash bags inside.  Makes for an odd scavenger hunt.

My group covered Ionia from 1st to 8th. There were a few other groups, one on Perry and am not sure where the others worked
