Post by: stephendare on December 15, 2008, 06:48:11 PM
LOLAS (little old ladies at SPAR)

Sparlitics (the politics of living in Springfield.)

Bobbers (the guys walking the alleys looking mindlessly for things to steal.)

Any others?

zombies  -  those who have been dischaged from Shands who are still wearing their hospital robes and walking around like zombies.

Springfield birds   -     JSO helecopters that circle endlessly.

ghetto flowers     -     plastic bags that have gotten caught in a tree and wave in the wind

Keeping it real      -    having broken banner poles and trash along the main street in "historic springfield"

Lawn Ornaments   -    those shiny Steel Reserve cans that show up in your yard all the time.

Courageous: Any person who would restore a structure in Springfield.

Resolute: The mindset of any (contributing) resident willing to brave the hazards of Sprigfield as a result of their admiration of it's beauty and potential.

Ditto.  Like I mentioned to a couple of others here - I deal with drama where I work.  I sure as heck don't want to have to deal with it where I live too.  I couldn't handle it!

However, to hear people talk about it in real life versus over the threads is even more entertaining and educational!

Thankfully, what you read on MJ's forums is often not reality.

"Real life" in SPR isn't nearly as contraversial, argumentative, rude, idiotic, etc as the MJ version.

And Mr. Dare I was born in Atlanta and will arm wrestle you (or at least out accent you) for "most southern" title any day.

It isn't that bad. Some people just like keeping things stirred up. Mostly everyone I talk to on my street pays no attention to this crap. So please do not think it is a bad place to live.

I haven't gotten chairs thrown at me or experienced any drunken tirades online...I guess YMMV?

That's good. I have friends that live in Springfield and love it. But they do have some colorful stories to tell.

Ah, well, the boundaries are more metaphysical than geographic.  It was first identified around 7th & Market but tends to appear anywhere Springfieldians are engaging in neighborly enjoyment.  Frequently seen hovering over Three Layers, also present at First Fridays, alley clean-ups, Relay for Life, etc.  We expect sightings at the Urban Garden.  Requires regular attention and nourishment to keep the peace from leaking out.

It is almost boring now, no longer can you call everyone up for a late night cocktail party of watching the Springfield Bird. Now adays we just go Fusion or Pearl for fun, or our great wandering parties. Heck I cannot even get an Urban Warrior to pick through my trash anymore- now it is some dude in a truck that actually knocks on the door and ASKS if he can go through my trash.....
