On November 30, 1993, Jacksonville's NFL dream became a reality.

Do you remember where you were when you first heard the announcement? Any special memories from the first 15 years?
I know I have some, both good ('96 playoff run) :) and bad ('99 AFC Championship Game) :'( . But I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.
It was late in the day and I remember waiting until late at night, for JC Penny to start selling the team clothes. I went and bought a jersey. I also remember that not long afterwards, the original logo had to be changed because of the lawsuit, by Jaguar motors.
Attending the first game against the Oilers was a perfect football day.
I was having a flashback moment when I heard the words. About 10 years to the day BEFORE the team came to town (sometime in 1983) we were hosting a dinner at our house. Several of the big shots of Godbold's administration and the CofC were over that night. Somehow we got to talking about "the team" (remember it was still just a crazy dream at that time) and I asked Frank Pierce if there was any truth to the story that we "Might" get a team.
The room fell hushed and Frank looked me straight in the eye and said, "Bob, it's a DONE DEAL, we already HAVE the team..." Then of course we went through the years of NFL expansion - the maybe - the maybe not, with all the collected unknowns. Fast foward to the announcement that we got the team, and I swore I coud hear Frank's voice, "Bob, it's a DONE DEAL." Done deal indeed, and we're all richer for it.

Do you still have the original logo jersey? Would be a collectors item for sure.

Loved the old logo, much better than the present one, and yes it was because of Jaguar motors
Check out the picture of Weaver and Tagliabue. The original jersey was hideous.
I always thought it would be cool, since we really dont have any "throw back" jerseys yet, to work out a deal with Jaguar and use the old logo for a special occasion
...and it was actually Ford Motor Company, that owned Jaguar at the time ;)
Yes, I still have that original jersey. I do however prefer the current logo better.
True, it was Ford but they reached an agreement and never had to go to court.

QuoteTheir jersey and helmet design stirred controversy. Both included the team's logo with a gold leaping jaguar. This caught the attention of Ford Motor Company, parent of the automaker Jaguar, in that the Jaguars' logo bore what they considered to be too much resemblance to the automaker's logo, which was also used as a hood ornament. Though no lawsuit was brought to trial, an amicable agreement was ultimately reached where Jaguar would be named the official car of the Jaguars, and the Jaguars would redesign their uniforms.

It would be pretty neat if Ford/Jaguar could come to an agreement with the team to allow for a "throwback" uniform at the 20 year mark using that logo - I wonder how many Jaxsons could dig out that old laundry(?)..........
I remember seeing it on TV. Channel 12 I believe. I was so excited, just a young kid in those days. I also remember going to JC Penny to get a Jaguar shirt. We were all so proud. I still am proud and very thankful to have the Jaguars, just wish they would win a few more games. I also worked at the stadium for the first game. It was tons of fun and a great experience.
I still have a jacket with the original logo from my high school days buried in a trunk somewhere in the storage closet. As for the announcement, I remember shock. In Central Florida, most thought that St. Louis would finish ahead of Jax.
I was in 8th grade and remember watching Hicken get the thumbs up from Deron Cherry on WTLV. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. My family and I went to Champs Sports at the OP Mall and stood in line to get our shirts. Great day.

I agree. I'm not a big fan of the original logo. I like the current one.

Yeah me too. Just hope they can survive in this city. I have a feeling this offseason is going to be a rough one.

I remember buying the all white hat with the teal "JAGUARS" across it like that same month. That was my 8th grade year at jeff Davis and when we came back from Christmas - New Year break in 94...everyone had the Jaguar Starter jackets....(what ever happened to Starter clothes?)
Everyone had the teal 95 Jersey that said Jaguars on the back.
Man I remember me and my brothers recording the very first game vs the Panthers in Canton Ohio, it was played on a Saturday. I still have the vcr tape!!
Remember the silver helmets? They were just like the Jacksonville Bulls helmets but had the Jaguar on it.
Oh I remember Madden 94 on the Sega Genesis there was a code to get the Jaguars and Panther on the game. Seeing the word Jacksonville on a video game was a cool feeling.
I remember the first Touchdown by Desmond Howard on a punt return!!! Dude ended up being the MVP of the 96 Superbowl.
Speaking of 96.......
"Do you believe in miracles?" Ha ha ha ha ha classic
Beating Buffalo, then Beating Denver, plus the Falcons missed field goal that got the Jags in.
Remember Dan Marino's & Jimmy Johnson's retirement game? WOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!! I think most of the starters were out by the 1st half.
Whatever happened to R.J. Souward, Kevin Hardy, Fernando Bryant, Willie Jackson, Renaldo Wynn, Aaron Beasley, James Stuart, Natron Means, Mike Hollis, Brian Barker & Tony Brackens!
Awww...the memories!

Yea!! Thats it!
The Jaguars do have a throwback Jersey...its the White jersey with Teal numbers and letters.
I'll never forget the Marino retirement game. That and the Monday night game against Pittsburgh where the Jags (all black) held the Steelers to a 9 to nothing shutout.

So many great memories. Having the Jags here is such a sense of civic pride. Can't imagine not having them here.
