Freebird Live abandons plans to move to Atlantic Beach

In a recent Times Union article, Freebird owner Judy Van Zant-Jenness announced that she has given up on trying to relocate the live music venue from Jacksonville Beach to Atlantic Theatres in Atlantic Beach. It was too difficult,  Van Zant-Jenness said.  It would have been just too hard to run my business. While Freebird won't be going to Atlantic Beach, its still not a given that they will remain in Jacksonville Beach.

I went down to Mark's a few weekends ago. It was packed. So cool to see this. Having Freebird down there would be great. There current location at the beaches is fine because of the location. Thank god they did not move to that shopping center on Atlantic Boulevard. Somebody needs to wake this lady and let her know what she is missing.

Freebird's great where it is, why would we want it to leave Jax Beach?  Downtown could use more nightspots but taking attractions away from other regions of town isn't the way to do it.
Title: What's wrong with downtown?

Because there's a good chance they won't be remaining in the current Jacksonville Beach location.  If it relocates, its better for them and the region in general for the operation to locate in an entertainment district, helping to create more synergy between it and other live music venues and bars, then to locate to a strip center off 3rd St, Atlantic or Beach Blvds.  So, if there intention is to sell and move from the current spot and its too difficult to find another good beach location, why not downtown?  Isn't that better than them shutting down the business?

i emailed them and told them to move to the downtown area or consider themselves dinosaurs, lost among the high rise condo's at the beach that will ultimately consume them for a new sushi restaurant
