Title: Volunteering?
Post by: stephElf on November 18, 2008, 05:16:22 PM
I wasn't sure where to post this.

I am very interesting in volunteering and giving back to our community but I am not sure where to begin.

Ideally any of the following would interest me:

Public Art project/ city mural

City clean-up

promoting pet adoption/ spaying-neutering

somehow giving back to children

I am a graphic designer/creative type and so something that could possible use those skills would be cool...

Thanks for any suggestions!

I get most of my volunteering through volunteermatch.org

They match you based off of location, age, skill and a million other things.

I"m not sure how old you are, but there's a group called TaleTellers who read to PreK and K classes in Title 1 schools. But they ask that you're 55 or older. :)

I'm sure that Springfield Animal Care and Rescue Committee (SACARC) could always use someone with a creative eye.  Their "Dog Days" event is held in September...here's a link:
