Title: Anyone have a *great* tailor?
Post by: CMG22 on November 14, 2008, 09:04:53 PM
Like seriously good.  I'm sick of returning to New York just to have a suit fitted.  I've gone to multiple "good" tailors that have been recommended to me, and they are mediocre at best.  I received one pair of pants back which had one leg an inch longer than the other!

I want a serious sartorial expert.  Someone who knows that a man's pant hemline is not supposed to be parallel to the ground, for instance.  I'm willing to pay top dollar.

So, anyone got any recommendations??

Basel the tailor on Post just south of Park across from Riverside Presbyterian.  He has done some of my suits and they turned out great.  I dont know if he is a "serious sartorial expert" but I bet he would do what you asked.

The Tailor Shop on Southside near Copeland's.  The guy's eastern European & is known simply & only as "The Tailor".  Enough said.

......(p.s. - not cheap, but he's a perfectionist)
