I was just at Water Street district in Tampa for a business meeting. It is really quite beautiful, especially the lighting and the reflective materials on buildings and windows. It was very vibrant, pedestrian friendly, and had mix of local and chain retail.
I have no doubt this developer can mimic this in Jacksonville. I am really excited for this project being connected to Emerald Trail along Hogan street. This is the true connector and spark for Downtown Jacksonville as an urban, livable environment.
It's really crazy how fast this stuff is moving. Goes to show this stuff isn't rocket science, and our market and public support were never what held us back.
As soon as you have an administration, business community, and community interest in making some of these things happen, the law of attraction does the rest.
