Title: Tragedy
Post by: mvp on December 08, 2025, 04:36:07 PM
Many of us knew and worked with James. He was such a nice guy and this is so tragic. https://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/news/2025/dec/08/jacksonville-port-authority-executive-james-bennett-dies-in-car-accident/ (https://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/news/2025/dec/08/jacksonville-port-authority-executive-james-bennett-dies-in-car-accident/)

Is anyone considering carpooling to either the family reception on Thursday or the service on Friday?

Killed by a 16 year old who failed to stop in traffic on I-10.  This is why, around town, I prefer local roads over the interstates.  They are regularly full of crashes, often resulting in death.  I think a woman was killed on JTB this weekend, too, under similar circumstances.  People think they can look at their screens at 70+MPH in the same way they can at 20 MPH and not take on much more risk.

We need mandatory refresher drivers-ED courses, say every 10 or 20 years.  Most people today don't use their turn signals, hiding their intentions.  Add tailgating at higher speeds, swerving in traffic, not accounting for wet roads, road rage, running red lights, noisy cars, etc.  Rules of the road have gone by the wayside.
